I m looking for advice in getting a faster Internet at home. I live in the Southern Suburbs in Penlyn Estate in Cape Town. Currently, I have an uncapped TELKOM ADSL service that is extremely slow. I run a small business form home, so I use the Internet mostly for payments, emails and updating my drop box which is a business drop box with 100GB of data

The Telkom exchange that I am connected to has been upgraded from 2Mbps to 4Mbps, I am told by the technician, that my distance from the exchange is so far, by the time the signal reached my house, it has already been degraded to a sever extent. This same exchange is not due for an upgrade at any time soon, so I am looking for a faster Internet Service Provider.

I would like to cancel my DSTV subscription: I am on the full package for almost 10 years which costs me around R 1,000-00 per month. I want to downgrade to a lesser package and start subscribing to Showmax and Netflix.

Last week, I purchased a 100GB Telkom LTS package, the speed was tremendous, but I used almost 20GB of data in one day! This was only emails, internet banking and updating the drop box.

All my automatic updates on my Computers have been turned off.

I have returned the LTE Router and cancelled the service with Telkom, there is no Fibre available yet in my area.

Neotel have proposed a MicroWave link at R1,500-00 per month on a two year contract.

Is this the correct way to go or does anyone have alternate suggestions for me.

Your advice would be most appreciated

Look for a decent WISP in your area. Start by completing the WAPA.org.za Find a Provider form on their website and compare packages. Make sure you explain your requirements to the WISP(s)
