Fastest Android on the Market?

Get an iphone 6 for a day, then you'll appreciate your phone's AWESOME performance. Seriously though.. Xiaomi Note 8 is handling anything and everything like a boss.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. You've saved me a ton of time in terms of research. I really appreciate everyone's input. At the moment I'm thinking of the OnePlus 7 Pro if I can get my hands on one.

Thanks! Anyone boought from GearBest? Is it OK? Also what can I expect to pay on import taxes for a cellphone?

Bought my mom's OnePlus from there about 2 months ago. Ordered late Thursday night and got the phone on Monday morning so literally one working day. I have however heard of some people having a few issues of late delivery but never a case of the phone not being delivered. Customs can be a bit of a toss up depending on what Gearbest labels and values the device at on the invoice attached to the parcel. So luckily for us, they labelled it as a 100 dollar phone and customs and DHL's fee was less than R800

Yip, customs varies according to the tides, anywhere from R400-R1500... :p Shouldn't be more than R10k all in though... Might want to consider a cover or 2 though. The phone ships with a pre-installed screen protector and a fairly decent transparent, plastic cover.

I ordered a bunch from Nilkin global and Spigen. Very decent... Local support for Oneplus is next to zero so any issues and you potentially on your own...

Thanks for that info. Sounds like GearBest is a good option. What are the chances that it sits in customs for ages? How is customs these days?

Pixel 4? Its stock android with no bloatware.
Wouldn't recommend that, the only redeeming feature is the camera, everything else is meh, especially for the price. If you were to say Pixel 3A, yes, definitely worth the price.

@OP android one is what you want, stock Android with 2 years guaranteed major OS updates and 3 years security. Mid range has come a long way and is more than good enough for most. Don't experience lag on my Nokia 7 Plus, a R4k phone.

Samsungs Tizen is just bloated, but more modern hardware has improved their stuff tremendously, that J7 is a near 4 year old phone, we've had a lot of changes in the last two years that have improved phones a lot.
If you look for something with an e.g. Snapdragon 730, that's 7nm with quite good power efficiency, so upper mid range, should definitely not be laggy (again, at the mercy of the software though).

For stock android, be sure to install e.g. SwiftKey as your keyboard as it includes a clip tray and pretty good swipe dictation.

And try to make sure you get a phone with a Qualcomm chip as you can then take advantage of the Google Camera app as a port, the One Plus does use one.

Gearbest is a great option, yeah. Customs is very hit and miss! Can vary from a couple of days to a couple of weeks! It's that nuanced! At least, in my experience...

I'm amazed with the comments on GearBest with OnePlus 7 Pro. Not one bad comment. They all say this phone absolutely rocks :) :)

It is a very good phone, the worst thing is probably that you might get messed around by customs into SA.

One day when I've got money I'm gonna buy me a speed machine lol. For now my little Nokia 1 is all I need :)

Really awesome phone!! Love mine!! I see it's Marques Brownlee's phone of 2019...

If I were to nit pick:
Bright light legibility is weak
Camera is not quite at a flagship level, more software than hardware though. Gcam mod installed and the camera really shines!
Curved edges take getting a used to. A few accidental touches here and there.

8GB of RAM for starters. I know of new Desktop computers with less. Mind blowing hardware in a phone. Never mind the Snapdragon they are using.

One day I will experience lighting speed on a phone.

Was about to say this. Size also takes a bit of getting used to if you aren't coming from something like a Galaxy Note but I've actually come to enjoy the size now after some time

The 8GB of RAM is a gimmick, what really makes this phone shine is the UFS 3.0 storage. You'll seriously notice the difference with e.g. large Spotify playlist.
