Sure...but then it will balance itself...humans dont seem ti understand that capability yet...otherwise we wouldn't have a lot of problems we do today!

While they became de facto apex predators in the ''new'' system they could not control the populations of elk and other herbivores, the result being these big herbivores annihilated vegetation to the degree that if the rate of devastation continued the elks would send certain plants into extinction and would ultimately begin starving themselves AND other herbivores.

This idea that apex predators can be removed and that there are no side-effects is rubbish.

i never said that there were no side effects, there will always be side effects - but as with everything, from where you build your house, your road, your park, or even which wild life you encounter, things change. we need to exist too. i'm not for wiping out a predator in a system, but don't tell me that i need to let that predator eat me because i got in its way :p i'm a predator too

Could be typical of a shark attack; the bite is actually a ''tester''. A lot of attack victims bleed out because the shark grabs them, tastes them and realises, ''No, this does not taste like something I'd eat'', and leaves them. Obviously with a large shark that ''test'' bite is enough to slice you in twain.

And I'm pretty sure if that had been me the part that the shark chomped would have tasted pretty bad.

They should hang signs on the shark nets saying "Humans do not taste good, turn back now"
