Hi,

Looking for Windows based software to send faxes over a SIP VOIP account we have. Would be to normal landline numbers.

Can this be done using the G.729A codec?

t.38 can be a pain on a poorly maintained network. Latency below 300ms is fine, but jitter is the deal breaker here.

I have 95% success rate in a high-load production environment. Which I think is acceptable. The main issue you will have is the ITU standard above V.17 is propriety and expensive to license.

G.729a? Nope the DTMF is not inband for starters. Compression will kill the parity. Unfortunately the only option is G711a/u which is a rather heavy codec.

For windows  software, checkout freeswitch with spandsp. Freeswitch ROCKS! and if you are technical you will love the XML API! :D

sOlar, nice to see another freeswitch fan. Although freeswitch t.38 support is only available in a pass-through mode, so freeswitch can't be the fax originator or receiver of a t.38 fax ...yet.

Things change so fast, it may be able to do these things soon.

Drop me a note sometime, we can compare notes.
cheers

I mentioned (lib) spanDSP to compliment freeswitch, which can do origination as well as termination. I have it running in a live environment. I hope your arent talking about app_rx/tx in asterisk 1.4?

Will drop you a line always good to bounce idea's of a fellow "voipjunky", they seem few and far between. :)
