Fax to email

Anyone having problems sending faxes to 086 numbers (free fax to email)?
I checked my telkom account and am paying roughly R2.60 per minute to send a fax to one of these numbers and 50% of the time (not exaggerated) I end up having to send it again as it gives communication errors. I was wondering if anyone else was getting the same problems.

I've had huge problems with some of the 086 fax to email providors, R2.60 per minute and then they lock their fax modems at 4800bps or 7200bps so instead of the fax going thru in 2 minutes some take as long as 15 minutes.

I've changed over to Vox's 087 fax to email system for this reason, they don't seem to limit their fax modem speeds, and also the incoming call rate to them is something in the region of R1.20 per minute a lot cheaper than the 086 numbers.

To get a 087 number though you have to email [email protected] and ask them nicelly otherwise if you do it via their website you automatically get an 086 number.

Reason being I run an internet cafe with a fax and copy service so I feel that I can only charge my client once even if I have to send the fax twice. This makes it senseless to provide this service but I don't want to send my clients elsewhere.
