Features in iOS 16 Android's had for years

Photo Sharing is delayed - it didn’t come out yesterday

Many of these "features" have been available in third party apps on iOS for years already and this seems to just be criticism towards the first party Apple apps which aren't exactly forced down your throat. You do have flexibility in choosing other apps if you don't like the Apple ones.

  • Fitness app support without smartwatch — Available for several years on Android via Google Fit or Samsung Health.
There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of fitness apps that have been running on iPhone without the need for a smartwatch, for many, many years.

  • Haptic feedback on touch keyboard — Launched for Android 1.0 in January 2009.
Again, there are / have been third party keyboards that do this.

  • Multiple stops for Maps app — First launched on Google Maps in 2017.
Been available on Google maps on iOS for years.

  • Shared iCloud media libraries — Google Photos has allowed users to securely share libraries with others based on dates and content since 2017.
Not sure why this is listed as a new feature, it's probably done differently in iOS 16 with some new bells and whistles but I've been using shared iCloud libraries \ albums since 2015 or even before that.

  • Unsend and snooze email — Since 2018, Gmail let users reverse sending an email up to 30 seconds after pressing send.
Spark Email has been doing this for years on iOS. Pretty sure there are other Emails apps that have also done it.

And yet all of these 'missing features' have done absolutely fsckall to harm iOS or Apple in general, they are doing better than ever.

Why do you feel the need to defend iOS like this?
It is inevitable that this wil devolve into another Android vs iOS argument and I'm simply refuting that some of the features that have been "missing" from iPhone for so many years, as they haven't actually been missing.
Maybe because now it is not 3rd party apps but part of the OS?
Why does it matter whether it's part of the OS or not? Do you care that you can't create a spreadsheet natively in Windows without downloading Excel first?

Someone can still buy a product and 'wish' for a feature to be added, although they'll still buy the product and it'll do well

I personally think the features below are great, but I wouldn't expect it to impact sales or make a company do worse. I'm also really happy to have a battery percentage back

Having one app is much better for security and convenience.

Excel costs money so it's not remotely the same.

Open Office has been dead for 10 + years now.
Semantics. There are multiple open source and free applications that can create spreadsheets, yet you don't whine about Windows not being able to do it natively or how it's inferior to X because X can do it and Windows can't.

Not sure what the point of the arguments are, if the core product got by for so long without those features and contributed to the company being highly successful then those features didn't really matter in the first place. There used to be (or still is) a saying about missing features, "there's an app for that".

Security risk and convenience goes out the window.

And the ANC still gets about 50% of the votes, still keeping them in government..

Oh noes..

I reckon its cos Apple have just implemented it right... Google half arses pretty much everything and bsb still adores them.

I'm not going to lie, but I've never had an issue with snoozing mail or multiple stops .

What's the problem that you have with those and that Apple fixed ?
