Fedora 13, a new version of one of the world's most widely-used Linux distributions for desktops and servers, has been released:
The Fedora Project, a Red Hat, Inc. sponsored and community-supported open source collaboration, today announced the availability of Fedora 13, the latest version of its free open source operating system distribution.
Some of the more interesting features in this release include:
A streamlined installer; automatic print driver installation; new desktop applications and enhancements, including Shotwell photo manager, Deja-dup backup software, Pino Identi.ca/Twitter client and Simple Scan scanning utility; NetworkManager improvements; color management; enhanced iPod functionality; enhanced streaming and buffering support in Totem; 3D support for ATI cards via Radeon driver....

Oooh.

I'm currently LOVING my Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx release, but I certainly wouldn't mind giving Fedora 13 a try - considering Fedora Core 6 was my first-ever distro.

I'm also waiting for a local mirror :P

fedora was also my first *taste* of the penguin. maybe i'll spin this sometime too. (has been climbing distrowatch ratings, for what they're worth, over the last while). quite happy with the .deb based offerings right now though, i must say (except the uber-sucky kubuntu 10.04 LTS !). running mint@home and now ubuntu@work and dig it ++. so, fedora needs to produce the goods.

Local download links yet? Maybe Bittorrent might be the best way right now.

Posting this from Fedora 13 KDE release.

My comments:
1. Installed ssh, but on next bootup had to be started manually
2. Installed ddclient..on next bootup had to be started manually
3. Installed Nginx..on next bootup had to be started manually
4. Setup DSL with pppoe-setup...ditto
5. Installed knemo..that worked after setting it up under 'System settings'

Do we see a trend here? Kubuntu has spoilt me!

Installed Firefox, but cannot seem to get Flash support working :( , but working on it. EDIT: Got it going !

Otherwise, 'su' works the way it should ;)

Plugged in my K3565 HSDPA modem... worked OTB :)

Just untar the tar.gz, move libflashplayer.so to /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins and restart firefox.

 Been using the 64 bit version since it was first released and I've had no problems "researching" various flash games.
I used nspluginwrapper before that but it was annoying always having to pkill npview.bin when it was hogging the sound device.
