I was over the moon when my first daughter was born. She and her sister have continued to bring joy to our lives and I cannot imagine what it can be like to be without children. Sure there are trials and tribulations, but being a parent is like being in a relay race. Your parents had their turn, now it is yours.

Congrats! When you are about to have your first child it can be scary, and when it does arrive it is even more scary. The strange thing is once you leave the hospital everything seems to fall into place and you do a half decent job of raising the child.
Good luck, do not sweat it too much, there will be plenty of time for that later.
On a side note, now would be a good time to start saving for your child's education.

I am not sure whether to move the wedding forward, or do it after we have had the baby? The lady wants to look hot in her wedding pics
Get married now (If it bothers you) and do the ceremony and photos 6mnt-1y after the birth.
You better start catching up on your sleep too. Babies only sleep a short while between feeding and pooping session.

Don't move the wedding if she doesn't want to. Both my kids were born before we tied the knot. All you need to do once you're married is go to Home Affairs and fill out two forms to change the kid's surname to yours and indicate you're the father (that's if you want to, but any daddy who doesn't want his kid to bear his surname is crazyI am not sure whether to move the wedding forward, or do it after we have had the baby? You don't have to do that, they can register the child with his surname, the child doesn't automatically inherit the mothers surname

A friend of ours did that, her child has the fathers surname and they aren't together anymore.I'd budget on R4k for the costs, it's not only food and nappies that cost money, it's creche, it's doctors, it's clothes and various other things that start to stake up. Our little one is 10 months almost and it is a blessing

The term 'knocked up' , IMO, is such an unflattering/derogatory/insulting term and I would certainly never want to announce a pregnancy that way.

Get as much sleep now, those afternoon naps are history for the next couple years.
As for cost of the kid, most of that comes from nappies, there are nappies you can wash in the washing machine, will save you tons of cash.
Food wise, it can be pricey, purity is pricey but you'll be fine.
When the kid develops a personality it's the best, they become a little person you can relate to.

Yes it does.You don't have to do that, they can register the child with his surname, the child doesn't automatically inherit the mothers surname
Only if the father acknowledges paternity in-front of a Home Affairs official will the child be registered with his surname. But I get your point
