Hi Guys,

Few months ago Telkom spun a fiber cable on poles going through our garden and that of our neighbors as well. The installers at the time said that we would have access within weeks of the install. That was many months ago.

However, we have no fiber access. Contacted Telkom numerous times and a few ISP's and all just state that fiber is not available at our residence.

Considering the infrastructure is there, there has to be someone I can talk to in order to have the houses hooked up, most of which are interested in fiber services.

Area is Douglasdale, Gauteng.

Any info on whom can be contacted, will be appreciated.

The infrastructure may be there, but they may be waiting an MSAN upgrade etc. Basically if it hasn't gone through the process and sign off from Openserve your house and neighbors wont be able to order as it's via their portal.

I have a similar problem. The only variance is that half the road is active and enjoying the Telkom fiber experience, but the other half, where the same cable passes, don't have the same opportunity. Have phoned Openserve, Telkom and ISP, with all giving me the same generic answer. The map it not dark purple / pink. The installers of the actual fiber line, working for Telkom said the whole street is active and all the splice boxes on the Telkom poles has been tested and is currently live. They said the guys updating there maps, must have made a mistake by excluding our half of the road. This has been like this for over 6 months now. Still the maps show the same thing. I have given up. Other fiber companies was also going to install in our roads, but have pulled out once they saw Telkom installing fiber. Said it is not worth while to duplicate. If anyone has a good contact at Openserve/Telkom, I can contact. I can even supply the splice box numbers etc for them to check the actual "ports" etc.
