Fiber/internet options in Paarl

I sent a mail to lightstruck inquiring on the date's they themselves have and I was greeted with the following sentence: "We are looking at going live by the end of July at the latest we are just finalizing things with the ISP’s "

So, it may very well be that installation will be happening before that, with end of July being the worst-case deadline they have for themselves.
 
My hope is to get fibre installed before Telkom's tariff increases by September....
Wishful thinking, as they haven't even started with laying fibre in my suburb.
 
Was hoping for fiber. But upgrading my Ibits line from 10mb to 50mb as from 1 Aug. Hopefully it is sufficient.

I'm with Sonic Wireless in Bellville for over 4yrs and I'm very happy, I'm transfering to fibre now sticking with them. Wanted to set up a colleague from work living in Paarl with them too. They couldn't get line of sight when they did a test beforehand, hence he had to go with Trollkom. I frankly think Paarl is not their strong point tbh?

10 - 50 is 5x faster. It should really make a huge difference no doubt. I'm going Fibre now after I was on WISP, from 20-100, also 5x faster, can't wait lol

I am doing some research for family staying in Paarl (Buitenverwagting suburb) and trying to find out what options they have regarding proper internet. Fiber obviously being the preferred method.

I've seen Openserve does not come close so I was just wondering of someone more knowledgeable about the options in that area might make this search easier for me.

I just found out Open Web is part of Telkom, wtf???????

I am pretty sure I would be able to keep it at 50mb constantly as the Ibits infrastructure is on my buildings roof. Lightstruck will be in the building this evening but going to give them a skip for now and first test the 50mb from ibits as from 1 Aug.

Wait, your building is being connected to the fibre infrastructure?! :(

Which building/general area if I may ask. We're still waiting on ours :(
