So we have fiber in our area, my dad ordered through I don’t know who. But they say the wait is 4-8 weeks and we ordered about 4 weeks ago. So what do you actually wait for since we already have the fiber cables in the area?

They told me 6 weeks exactly 51 weeks ago.

Damn so you’ve been waiting a year? I know my dad is going with a less used host and not Afrihost and other common ones. Because my dads friend uses a quieter host and said the speeds are insane as less people use. I suppose you ordered from a common host so the demand there is high?

That's not how it works. On most networks it's dependant on the contractors who install it, which has very little to do with the actual ISP.

Also, smaller ISPs mostly all resell the same schit from bigger ISPs.

Though, mine is a major fail from both Openserve and Vumatel.

Normally 1 to 3 months seems reasonable.
