Personally don't understand how fibre is such a non event in Kempton park and surrounds. The area is vast and densely populated. Where's the urgency?!!

Probably at some rich estate somewhere in JHB. That's where everyone is putting in fiber. If one company just takes the knock to do some residential roll outs where no one has fiber yet they can almost charge what they like at this stage because everyone wants it.

I know a couple of people in our street close to eachother that want fiber but Openserve doesn't think it will be viable apparently

Possibly! But even the affluent suburbs are being neglected. There a slew of businesses all along the length of Monument road and Dann road, including a massive new teachers college that's just gone up.

Yoh :wtf: ! Be careful on here. Kemptonians are a fiery bunch and dont take well to causal observations of their intellect.

Lol, having worked in the area for the last 20 years I'm well aware of this fact. Good thing I wasn't commenting on their intellect... :p

There was a lot of digging going on in Bonearo park that looked like fibre cables being laid end last year.

This is better folks...let's keep this thread at the top and hope someone fibre company wakes up and installs fibre. There are plenty of folks that are waiting for fibre in our neighborhoods!

The urgency is to sucker in the rich- whom are often not-so-technically savvy and will pay without batting an eyelid. It gets marketed to them in the same way that a new uber-expensive handbag or vehicle would be.

Its all about the bean-counterage, the bottom line, the profits... and right now, most ISPs are going fibre to prevent themselves from being ridiculed out there, but will only target those whom they can fleece.

I have two fibre providers running past my home.. neither of them are interested, despite proof of potential clientele. So you know what, screw that, if they don't want to provide in the "less rich areas" they can go die in a fire..

This seriously sucks. We are around 10 homes waiting for Fibre...Cybersmart rejected our proposal too...

So it seems that fiber being laid down in the kempton park area can be one of any number of companies the one passing the terenure area seems to be DFA and it seems it is for cybersmart to name one ISP. Issue is...as they explained it...that this is from an exchange to an exchange and not to individual's home, but if I can get roughly another 37 other homes to sign up it could become probable.

But in all honesty this is probably the best way to scrounge up some more people in the Van Riebeeck park area. So if you live near the de wiekus center, drop a reply here so we can see if we can amass that 37 interested people. I'm personally gatvol of using cellular connection not even to mention the rubbish that Telkom 'provides'

Problem is, the total Lightspeed needs has to be within close proximity. And with Van Riebeeck Park being fairly wide we'd probably need 1000 :) so that way I see it, its every street for them selves hehehehe - jokes. Any suggestions for us to protest or petition and I'll be there

I'll go sharpen my pitchfork then, as well as poor some more oil over my torches then :p
But jokes aside, this is essentially why I pointed out the shopping center, as this way we can attempt to gather people in close proximity without giving too much personal information in a open forum such as this. As for example I did not register on cybersmart's list and it might be that other people felt the same way, as I did not think there would be many people interested in my area. All in all it might be that we help another area of van riebeeck park out rather than our own. Which in the end will improve our probability of getting fiber sooner

I wanted to find out if there is any Fibre to Home internet available in Kempton Park, they laid Fibre cables infront of our home in Terenure street, but how do I find out who the provider is, i have tried all the the big companies like Telkom but no luck??

Can anybody point me in the Right direction please?

I see DFA on Oranjerivier and Stegmann, not Terenure. I know no FTTH infrastructure providers are building there, so I would guess what you saw is one of the Telco's sending fibre to a BTS for LTE backhaul.

Guys please submit your areas here, so we can get this FTTH, the more people we get to show interest here the better

https://123net.co.za/en/front/forms/home/

These are some of the best deals I have seen for Fibre yet

And please share this with other people that is not on this forum that you know of interested in fibre to home
