as luck would have it, garden service nicked my vumatel fibre cable (from the grey box to inside the house)

I must compliment Coolideas & Vumatel, a techie arrived first thing this morning to fix. However he could only do a temp fix (cutting & re-splicing them again) but says its better to get vumatel to do a Re-Installation and this time ensure they put the outdoor section in a protective conduit.... at a cost of R1725.

Anyone know if i could buy my own 20metre fibre flylead and just do this myself? who sells this sort of stuff and is it worth doing. Or just pony up the 1.7k to Vumatel.

Make the garden service pay the 1.7..they normally have insurance for these types of incidents.. Are u in a complex.. Make a claim on body corporate insurance.. Check your policy

That's is what they should've done in the first place.

Also if your gardens services could nick it, it was a sloppy install done way too shallow.

thanks guys.

freestanding house so theres that :)

they put the ground area of the cable in conduits underground, but where it runs alongside my entrance walkway, they just nailed it to the brickwork, its about 30cm from the ground.

Scheduled a re-installation tomorrow, going to make sure i'm there for every step of their installation and gonna be a pedantic ******* about it.
