Fibre Centurion

The fastest I can get is still 4Mb ADSL even though I am stones throw away from a planned Fiber area.

Hi

So I live in Lyttelton Manor Ext 1, the area by the Lyttelton Kwikspar, and I ordered my fiber on 30 August 2016. The Telkom techie came to install the fiber on 5 September 2016, and finally today it was activated. It was surprisingly very quick, very unlike Telkom actually :crylaugh:.

But now it is installed and I am loving every bit of the 100Mbps.

Here is a speedtest result: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5628560007

Awesome! Not too far from our new place (4.8km).

What is it like having a 100mbps fibre connection, sites open instantly like in the American movies, YouTube streaming buffers 100% complete in seconds etc etc?

I received the following email from Webafrica a day after I pre-ordered.

Hi Quentin,

Thank You For Pre-Ordering Your Fibre Internet.

We’re so glad you’ve pre-ordered your Superfast, Superfly Fibre internet through Webafrica!

You’re now at the front of the queue, which means once Fibre hits your area you will be way ahead of the pack when it comes to getting installed.

When Will It Arrive?

Openserve has indicated that your suburb could take up to 6 months to go live (we're saying 6 months to be conservative, so please don't panic as the duration is usually much shorter).

How Does The Process Work?

Openserve uses a combination of aerial and trenching methods to deliver Fibre. This means they might not have to dig up your pavement, so don't use the progress of their construction teams as a yardstick to determine the length of time it'll take to reach your address.

The second Fibre is available at your address, we'll automatically place the order for your Fibre line with Openserve, so you can sit back and relax since we take care of the entire process.

Regular Status Updates

It’s important to us that you know what your Fibre status is. So while we can’t give you a specific go-live date just yet, we will update you on a monthly basis to let you know how the roll-out is proceeding.

No Billing Until You’re Live!

The initial free period and your billing only kicks off once your Fibre is active. You won’t pay a cent before you are connected.

Raring To Go?

If you’re still making do without high-speed internet, our ADSL packages can fill the gap while you wait for your Fibre installation.

Drop Us A Line

If you have any queries, please email us at [email protected].

In the meantime, hold on tight, your Superfly, Superfast Fibre Internet is on the way!

Yours in Fibre anticipation,

The Webafrica Team

Half our complex is already live so hopefully we'll be live by November.

Yes, websites open instantly, well South African websites, and downloading 113GB in 2 Hours is very fun to watch. Yes I said watch because I have never seen uTorrent downloading 10.6MB/s :crylaugh:. I would say it is worth every penny :) And what is buffering? I know of no such thing:crylaugh:

I'm in Wierdaglen Estate and got my Telkom Ref on 5 September 2016.
Followed up today and TelkomZA says my address or Lats are wrong on my request, so now trying to get them to update the correct info.

Sounds Insane! :)

Currently there are contractors knocking on doors in Clubview claiming to be from Telkom and are investigating the possible roll out of Fibre. The community are handling them extremely cautiously since they don't really look the part. Does anyone have any knowledge in regards to the possible roll out of fibre in Clubview?
