Fibre Elarduspark

Stupid question but does the fibre need to be on my side of the road for me to have it installed at my house? And why would they only lay fibre in the one side of the street?
How is you ADSL installed? They will follow the same route.

Mine is wooden poles in the back of everybody else's yards.

If they follow the same route as the copper, they might as well jump from Boeing straight on to the wooden pole in the back of my yard, it will take a lot less time and be a lot less effort than to bring it all the way down in to the suburb and come in from the streetfront.

I know our copper run all along our street on poles in the back of yards, but don't really know the route from there.

From the installs i have seen they use the same Telephone copper line poles depending on area and only trench to get access to the main supply line. DSL is a Grey Box and Fibre a Black Round Box with Yellow Stickers on it.

They actually came into my complex (Zervista, on Median street) the other day to lay down cable.
Also, they have laid it all the way down median street.

I spoke to one of the workers and they said it should be done month end?
However I have no idea who the provider is....

Where exactly in Boeing are they currently? I was just about to actually start a thred on this, whether anyone know something about fiber in Elardus Park and Rietvallei park. I'm in Rietvallei park and as far as I know, Telkom doesn't even show the Elardus park / Rietvallei park area as planned on their maps.

On the Rietvalleirand side there has been some digging in Manie road, and the workers claim to be OpenServe, though no branding visible, but when you call OpenServe they look at the same coverage map you are looking at. The whole area between Piering, Boeing and Manie street seems labelled as targeted on the Vodacom FTTH coverage map.

Note I'm not in Rietvalleirand, I'm in Rietvallei park, that's on the other side of Boeing towards the R21, in Escombe ave to be exact.
Last time I looked at any map the closest hint of fiber in this entire Elardus park, Rietvallei park, Rietvalleirand area was at Route 21 corporate park.

I'll just be patient and wait for Telkom's website to show my house as "fibre active".
Assuming the lag between laying fibre and when it is actually available can take some time (months).

DFA supply dark fibre. They don't put fibre in your house or business. Someone else needs to do that, like Fibrehoods, Vox Fibre, Telkom etc.

DFA does some of the Backhaul links same as Openserver, Huawei etc.

Telkom Fibre, Fibrehoods, Vox Telecom etc. are all ISP's that supply Fibre if it is available.

I would like to get a petition/survey going to send to potential ISP's.

Obviously applying for the area in and around Elarduspark (Boeing,Median,Piering, Noriet)
As they are building 2 complexes as we speak on the corner of Median and Delta streets,
this might prove convincing to providers.

Would anyone be interested in helping out?

As long as we can also go around the corner from Delta in to Escombe ave then you've got my attention.

It looks like telkom recently updated their fibre map. Elarduspark is now at least in the planning fase. Hopefully it wont take too long for it to go live.

So Elarduspark showed up as pink today on Telkom's website. Future fibre on its way. Maybe another 3-4 months before we can order. I hope.

From the "planned" stage it can take anywhere from 6-12 months for the fibre to be "live"

Dear Neighbours

The optical fibre implementation project has resumed. We have been in contact with the new implementation team. Here is a status report:

What went wrong last year?
Dexterity’s contract was terminated due to non-compliance with standards (Dexterity was the subcontractor responsible for the physical implementation). Work stopped in mid-November, has resumed with the appointment of a new subcontractor (China Com Solutions – CCS). They are currently evaluating the work done so far, where after they must fix problems and complete the project.

When will it be finished?
The estimated end date is end March 2017.

Who fits in where?
The project is executed by Openserve (a division of Telkom responsible for fibre infrastructure). The implementation in Wingate Park is part of a contract awarded by Openserve to Huawei, who have subcontracted CCS to do the physical implementation.
This project will bring an optical fibre connection to a domestic connection point (the nearest telephone pole, if it is a house). The final connection to the consumer will then be done by a service provider of your choice, with whom you sign the contract for services. This could be Telkom, Webafrica, Cybersmart, or anyone that provides internet services over Openserve’s infrastructure.

Must I again allow access to my property?
Yes. Some of the work already done must be corrected / completed. In addition the so-called “slim boxes” must be installed at the domestic connection points. Where aerial cables have to be installed, it may be necessary to clear away vegetation .
In terms of security, we have ascertained from the project team that everyone who wants access to your property must have an identification badge with a photo, which confirms he/she works for China Com Solutions.
If there is any doubt, or if a problem arises, please contact the responsible project leader below.

Who can I contact?
Wingate Park is part of two implementation areas, each with a project leader. The dividing line runs from the end of Magato along Nelspoort, Lindros, Panda, Klipbank, Dennil and Turf up to Odell. Everything on the Delmas Road/Solomon Mahlangu side is area A20 and on the golf course/Rubenstein side is A26. The project leaders and their contact numbers are as follows:

A20: Sivan Govender -
A26: Piet Labotski -

They are both on WhatsApp and the teams are working over weekends as well.

Please co-operate so that this project can be completed.

The thing with patience – one only learns it through practice!

Many Thanks
