Yesterday my sister told me they are digging up her complex in Eekhout st, Elardus park, busy laying fiber, Huawei vehicles and clothing.
 
Saw Huawei guys pulling Fiber on Allandale opposite the Elardus Park Spar yesterday.

Boston St is the last ring 345 XXXX exchange, so hope they will go live soon
 
They are currently installing Fibre as confirmed with OpenServe this morning is Nieuwenhuyzen Road.
 
Are they still busy in the area? It's been a while since I've seen anyone working, and near my house it's like they just left in the middle of the job and never came back.

Quite a few huawei/openserve techs in feldspar. Street
 
Asked them how far along they were, said it will be up in 6 months, lol. Does someone perhaps have more positive news?

A post earlier in this thred which was originally a email to Wingate residence said they should be done by the end of March, though I anyway doubt they made that deadline, I also think they only ment they will be done with the physical installations by then in that area.

As far as I know they usually finish with a entire area before lighting up the fiber, I for example know of a complex where the installation has been completed 3 or so weeks ago already, but they can't even say when it will be lit up.
I think June July 2017 is a realistic expectation, but the 6 months from now which you heard isn't that far fetched either.

Yeah I think you are right, highly doubt the area will go live before June / July. Still stuck with 4mbps adsl until then I guess :/.
 
Some guys from Bytes worked on the Telkom Pole in my yard. I'm not sure if they tested the fiber...wasn't home to ask. This was is Holgate str.
 
Quite negative at the moment, with my ADSL line / speed deteriorating by the day I've been checking fiber maps again.
Get this, the new complex 100m down the street from me shows on Telkom's map as getting fiber, the complex behind that one, which actually boarders the back of our yard also shows as getting fiber, but our street Escombe ave doesn't even show as planned on the maps.
I can literally get a 100m roll of fiber cable and take it down the street and I'll reach the one complex, or from the telephone pole in the back of our yard run a 50m cable to the complex behind us.
 
I've been unofficially told by a pretty solid source that OpenServe is only set to roll out fiber in my area (Rietvallei park - Escombe ave) in the next 6 to 18 months, that's start to roll out not lighting up or anything and also if there's enough interest.
So that's me officially giving up hope and exploring alternatives.
 
It seems no one really knows what is going on. Every time I ask them how far along they are, they say "about two months remaining". When I asked two months ago it was also "two months remaining". However I see two small sections have been activated around Piering road... Wonder why they are not activation my block since they are finished with the wiring etc.

@bigboy529, that is unfortunate, they might just as well continue on through Rietvallei Park as they are laying fibre pretty much all around it anyway.

Yup, for some very odd reason they are just skipping this little area but going all around us.

They did that a month or two ago here, but still not activated :/. I see however small sections have been activated, around the primary school and also around Piering, Noriet, Van Nikkelen and Chroom. Just wish they could activate my area as well as they have been done here for quite a while now.
 
Can't believe the fibre is still not active yet. Anyone have any news regarding when this area will go live ?
Why are there a few patches that got activated early, I thought they activated the whole neighborhood at the same time ?
 
In the part of wingate park clossest to the golf course showed if you clicked on one of the houses then it showed 100mbps and 2 weeks later that was begining this week the fibre was lit up. so keep checking if your house shows 100mbps then 2week then your area will be lit up
