Dear residents, we've had the *Fibre-to-the-home* discussion a few times. For better internet and wifi connectivity.

Seacom is looking at the south of Johannesburg currently. Can I kindly urge that we lodge our interest with them, via the link below. I did it already and noticed that they list many of the southern suburbs, but not Ridgeway.

Select 'other' and when prompted for an address, you can then specify your address and Ridgeway Ext as the area. It takes 2 minutes to complete.

Check vumatel site as well they planning to deploy there as well based on Interest..

Done! Registered with both Vuma and Seacom.

Hi guys. I received an email from http://www.phoenixtelecoms.co.za/ regarding this. They want to do a site visit. However I think the pricing is a bit high.

They would be, considering they're even laying cables and digging trenches down Xavier Road. So Fibre is coming, I know in Kimberley Road they can already connect you. Especially if you are in a complex.

Not saying it's Phoenix, but someone is laying down the infrastructure.

Keep in mind Seacom doesn't look to be an open access deployment.

Would be interesting to see who's fibre it is. I know MTN are covering a few complexes in Ormonde.

hello fellow group3 whatsapp member ;)

FYI: Swartgoud street has fibre by DarkFibre for over a year now. its laid but not lit up yet. I guess they wait for a Vumatel or similar to do this?

I see they've been trenching down Xavier, all the way from Rifle Range. It appears they're joining up with the infrastructure running down Kimberley Road.

I am hoping after this it will be lit up.

I spoke to the providers last time, they've indiated if one can get one of the complexes to sign up then it will make it easier to leverage off of that for the surrounding areas as well. This was also the previous thread: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/search.php?searchid=61912204

I've also again lodged interest on the www.PhoenixTelecoms.co.za site, this is their current coverage map:

I think Vumtel is our best bet short term.
Dark fibre does not seem interested in any FTTH products.
So I would not hold my breath.

When I initially registered interest with Vumatel they needed 850 people in the Mondeor area.
That's down to 750 (12%) now in the space of a week.
Seems like the surrounding area's are signing up at about the same rate.
We just need to keep spreading the word and get people to sign up.

DFA will rollout via sadv, if you inquire about FTTH with DFA, they send the lead directly to us.

I see Vumatel has started construction in Glenvista. Glad to see some fibre action in the south.
Now just to get everyone in Mondeor interested.

I have put together a basic pamphlet that I plan to distribute here in Mondeor, but it is generic enough that anyone in the south can use it. There is both a pdf and png version for convenience.
Get it here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ys0vhes8iu9qnsn/AAAiVhxfM41r4maPP3J2SBp6a?dl=0

Spread the word guys.

Got a notice today about where vumatel will install the fibre box. Vumatel is very keen in Glenvista. So good luck in Mondeor
