I see on the Webafrica site that fibre connection is due in the next three months at my address. I expect that is a guestimate but at least its something. Most of my friends just get the "sorry its not available in your area" message when they use it.

It still gives the option to choose your provider but I suspect that we might not have much of a choice and would need to go with whoever installed the fibre to our area.
I'm not keen on a 2 year contract with Telkom but if it works it works.

Wont complain to much because 2 years ago I would not have thought that fibre would be an option before 2020.

Anyone in Moreleta got a fibre connection yet? If so let us know the details please.

No it seems as though its dead on, spoke to Iconnectsa's head for FTTH rollout and they met up with Telkom's directors for FTTH/FTTB roll-out and they said that it should be updated by June 10th... Hopefully Frogfoot deploys before that time...

Cool, still seeing them every day as well - hopefully they pull through, all the way through!

Do you have to sign a form for them to take the fibre inside your house?

They also started in Meadow Glen Estate yesterday, we had to sign a letter for them take it in our house yes.

The cover letter stated that the upgrade to the Telkom network in the area is taking place from 2015/04/06 to 2016/05/31. So hopefully we'll have Fiber in June ;)

I'm in Meadow Ridge. Got the same dates as you. Do you know if we have to use Telkom as the isp or can we use anyone?

Web Africa fibre check for my address went from "Within the next 3 months (2 Months ago) to Aw Shucks – You Can't Get Fibre Just Yet today.

Seems like they don't want to make any time commitments anymore.

Do you guys are think they need to install those white MSAN boxes in our Moreleta area too? Like those we see in other areas with fibre like Faerie Glen / Waterkloof. That could add a lot of time to completion.

I'm in Pin Oak and the guys are working in our complex. Super excited.

Hi, does anyone have an idea as to when the fibre network in Moreleta Park will go "live"? They have been working in the area for almost 2 months and the only thing still be be done in our estate is to connect the houses as the main fibre installations (to curb) in the estate seems to be complete.

Thanks!

No idea - they just finished up on my side (where Wekker ends in Jozini street). Hopefully soon!

I just wanted to find out from everyone, is there a way to get Telkom to install Fibre into my complex, corner of Wekker and Timbivati street. Huawei have just completed the installation into the 4 complexes surrounding ours, and they said the Body Corporate denied access - however they are all looking at upgrading to FTTH.

It is frustrating to have FTTH running right past my house, not being able to get it... :crying:

Thanks!

Do you currently have Telkom infrastructure in your complex? My understanding is that if the Body Corporate denied Telkom access to your complex, they will not be able to do any upgrades in your complex. Have the Body Corporate not maybe engaged with another fibre provider to cover your complex? Otherwise they might just not care as the Body Corporate members are not interested which will be very sad for the residents. I will however take it up with them if I were you and put it to the vote of all residents in the complex.

We raised the "Denial of Access" with the Body Corporate and the Property Management Company, neither of them denied access to the complex and the Body Corporate are very keen to get FTTH into the complex. I have managed to get hold of Telkom (OpenServe) to find out if there was in fact a decision made by our Body Corporate or Property Management Company not to have Fibre Installed.

Hopefully they will get back to me soon.

The sad fact is there was no communication to any of the owners in the complex about the possibility of FTTH coming into the area at all. This was one of the questions posed to them, when was the vote and why weren't all owners notified.

Will have to hurry up and wait I suppose.
