Fibre in Ramsgate

Only Frogfoot is busy this part of the coast afaik. Openserve is only expanding their towers, they are not doing home installs here. I asked them when I saw them digging in December already. They got approval for more towers. Vodacom was also just here ISP wise. They are not rolling out fibre here.

On Vodacom map they say I'm apparently good to order and they mention its on the Frogfoot network.

On Afrihost I can pre-order only. Should I pre-order now or wait to go live end of June and then just order? When will I be billed if I pre-order? Still have an active account with Afrihost since 2007 and planning to go with their 1000/1000 offering but don't want to pay for a service I can't have yet.

You don't pay until it's installed and confirmed working on your property. I've pre ordered when afrihost added pre-orders and have yet to pay a cent
 
Margate Primary School area does not appear on the Frogfoot map and Afrihost confirmed they have no providers listed as work in progress.

They were trenching near the school yesterday and stopped and asked the workers who they were trenching for. They said they work for M-Tel and are installing fibre but do not know for which service provider.

Saw some openserve pole advertisements very recently exclaiming that "Fibre is here!", if that will be true (apart from the tower expansion) then this side of the coast will be very fortunate to have this much choice from the get go.

Haven't seen any movement on my part of the regional section for a few weeks now so I assume they're (Frogfoot) busy elsewhere for now.

They pretty busy around Uvongo and Uvongo beach at the moment.
 
Further to my post 124, I can confirm that the Margate Primary Area is covered by Openserve. They managed to drill holes into our main electrical feed and power was off from +--10:30am until +-18:00.

And now the Frogfoot map says Umtentweni is going live end July.

Previously it was end June...
 
Looks like my mum's complex in Uvongo is on time. FrogFoot contractor pushing the install. ETA 31st July to live date. They are trenching in the complex now and installed the slimboxes on the unit walls after the their initial plan to run it in the existing ducts failed.

I have a manhole right outside my gate too for 2 months + now and no one's been back since.

hehe same! The wait is excruciating especially after some districts were further extended, hopefully it was just a catchall and the ones closer to upper South Coast will go live in tandem with the end of July / August schedules.
 
And now Tweni and Sea Park is also moved all the way to end September.

**** this I'm just going to forget about this now. Someone pm me or something when it eventually hits, sometime 2023 by the looks of it.

Sure good thing the south coast is finally getting fibre but holy **** what a pity it is these amateurs who don't even have a workforce and pick up guys on whatsapp messages and street corners are the ones to do it.
