Fibre: Secunda Community

Are there any coverage maps / maps indicating where you will be laying fibre? I hope that my street is included ...
You have to register on their site if you haven't already. So they Cann plan your street aswell.

Yes, I did that. Hopefully they will cover it.
Kalin please give us updates when you can.
The more people I talk to the more people seem to be interested.

I know the feeling. People all over secunda can't wait for this.

I agree with you on the coverage map. That would be a good idea. I would also like to see where the fibre is connected to the backbone as I assume they will start rolling out from there.

Good evening,

Unfortunately we can't publish maps or divulge our specific roll-out plans street-by-street, as this is proprietary information :)

What we can say for sure though is that if you are in Secunda and have already signed up on our website, you will definitely be covered in the first wave of the fibre rollout. If others wait too long to sign up, they may have to wait a bit for coverage.

Get as many people as possible to sign up soon and everybody will be happy! ;)

Ok, I found out today and immediately signed up. Will see what happens as time goes on.
Trying to spread the word as much as possible, I am sure there are still many people who just don't know about this and would jump on it very quickly.

@123Net, there are also quite a few new developments (Complexes and alike in Secunda area) have you approached/been approached by any of them? Since Telkom won't supply any new lines I am sure the residents would welcome a Fibre supply. Prince of Tides is the one, can't think of the others right now.

Wow you are late to the party we already have 500+ sigh ups in Secunda (300 was required ) and we have already hold a meeting with the CEO and CTO from 123Net explaining the plans for complexes in Secunda

Remember, due to the fact that MyBroadband 'jumped the gun' and posted that article about us in March before we were ready, all signups up till this point have been organic / from word-of-mouth. When we are ready we will run an advertising campaign and approach various suburbs, complexes, businesses etc., but for now we are purely accommodating signups that come to us. So at this stage, the best thing to do is to keep spreading the word, and we'll try and accommodate as many users as possible.

Having said that, if "Prince of Tides" or any other new complexes in Secunda approach us and sign up, we will include them in the rollout :)

I see, that makes sense. I am telling everyone I know in Secunda about this so we can get more people on board.
I am sure once you start advertising (especially once the network is live) sign ups will boom.

Best of luck, looking forward to it!

Also waiting for some feedback

Hi guys, sorry we've been so quiet! Kalin is actually in Bulgaria for a week, and the rest of us have been working hard behind the scenes. Here's a quick update for you:

We are currently waiting for ICASA to give us the final approval of our licence. We cannot start anything before this happens because we need to submit it to the municipality. We have had confirmation that the licence is ready, but we haven't gotten our papers yet. On our side, we do have the street rollout plans finalized. We have our drilling equipment ready too.

I promise that we are doing everything we can to get Phase 1 of Secunda's rollout happening as quickly as possible!

Ps. Love the 123NET puppy photo :D

Yep there goes my Christmas fibre plans , wonder if I should move it to Easter.

Hey,
We actually bought Directional Drilling machines and trenchers additionally ;)
You will see them soon digging in Secunda.
To all the rest "friends": don't worry. We will make people of Secunda very happy! No matter how much you can "love" us ;)

Lol, nice name and fitting I reckon - looking forward to seeing them in action. Thanks Kalin.
