Ok, So I have VDSL 20mbps now, but was a real struggle. Seems like TPlink VDSL routers does not play well with VDSL at all.
Before I upgraded my line to VDSL I went to buy a VDSL router, obviously this is Secunda so the choices are limited. I contacted the Telkom_ZA rep here on the forum and he/she as always was a huge help in switching over to VDSL.
The rep contacted me telling me that the line was ported over to VDSL and I should have a look, I was at work so couldnt take a look at that stage. When I got home the internet was down, I thought that maybe the router didnt switch over automatically so I went to the settings page, and did the switch over manually to vdsl, but still no luck. The router gave me the line stats and was telling me that it synced, yet no internet which was really strange, I then proceeded in contacting my ISP to ask them what is going on, they replied that it must be a fault on Telkom side since they get a "lost carrier" message on their end.
I contacted the Telkom rep again to see if they could assist me, and they tried but could not see a fault, they then logged a fault for me and I had to wait for a tech to come and try to rectify any problems. Once the techie arrived he was stumped as well, we could see the line syncing but no internet, we then tried the Telkom guest account, but no internet. We tried to set some settings manually, but that didnt work either, so eventually we tried the techie's Telkom VDSL router, and it connected immediately.
So we found out that the router was syncing but did not allow me to actually connect to the internet. Needless to say I was a bit angry and confused to why a VDSL router could not do what it was supposed to do. The techie left and I had to either sit without internet, or go to Telkom store and get one of their routers, since it was proven that they work. I went to get a router from Telkom and went home, all was fine after I connected the router. I still have the TPlink router at home, since I went to read a bit more on the issue with their routers and it seems like it is having the same issues in England as well, but there is some fixes posted there that some people did and it worked for them. If needed someday I will try those fixes on the router, but for now it needs to sit in a dark dry place and think of all the bad it did...
TLDR. Do not use TPlink for VDSL.
My line stats also saw a huge improvement on VDSL from where it was on ADSL2+ at 20mbps. With ADSL2+ my SNR margin was 9.1 and with VDSL my current SNR margin is 33.2 so it is a huge boost. I do however have some troubles with the line since it struggles to stream even a bloomen 720p video, but I suspect it may be an issue on the ISP side, will one day if I stop being lazy just get me a 1 gig cap from another ISP to verify my theory and then submit my findings to my current ISP if they are in the wrong.

/
