Fibre: Secunda Community

Has anyone had installation done yet ? Can anyone tell me which zone the "old new superspar" (close to eendjie dam) fall into ? Thanks

I'm at Dr Raman/Solly's side and Vodacom Fibre is Live... My order was approved on Monday Morning so just waiting for installation scheduling...
FOr your sake I hope you don't get the Vodacom FTTH... But yes, its my only option so Ill have to go with them...

Anyone successfully canceled their Telkom dsl accounts?
 
Seems as if dfferent areas are getting dfferent fibre networks...

We got Vodacom... :(

I understand your confusion, but keep in mind that there is allot of digging going on around Secunda. Some of it is for cellphone towers and some is for the fibre. Vodacom is the only fibre supplier currently digging in Secunda for fibre, the rest is for towers that will be shared by vodacom, mtn and cellc and will not supply you with fibre. Be sure to ask the guys digging what they are digging for, they are quite friendly and will help you if they can.
 
My installation was done this afternoon now waiting for activation....
Anyone here that also went with vodacom that might know hoe to speed up the activation process...?
 
Hows the activation going @hume ? Yea they dug up my area and put the ducting for the fibre, still awaiting the actual fibre to be put in the ground. These guys work fast.

Im very disgusted in Vodacom...
Never in my life had i experienced such incompentence, no care and plain pathetic service...
Today in Secunda the vodacom fibre network has been down since 8am and still no communication from their side...
The call centre 0821904 is absolutely useless...
To anyone considering them, all i can say is stay away as far as possible.
In the evening between 5 and 11pm you will be lucky if you get half the speeds you pay for...

How do i get out of this contract... please help!!!

That is why I opted for the month to month contract, just in case it turns out crap. /touch wood

Sorry about your experience. I have experienced the exact opposite. Yesterday was the first time my fiber was off, back on today. I received an email notifying of maintenance on the system tomorrow though. Each time I have contacted Ann with queries, she immediately responded.
 
dont know what they did on the network but today everything is stable and flying at my true speed im paying for...
Even twitch is supersonic...
Lets hold thumbs they optimised the network with todays maintanance

They changes their network carrier so they should be back up to par with what they offer, there was some issues with the previous network and they opted to change. Hope it stays that way. I tend to follow them on facebook, and will advise you to do the same, the people there atleast try and keep you informed. Good luck buddy.

How is your area doing with regards to the laying cables?

In mine they started strong, but seems for some reason it has died down. Lots of patches not yet having cables in the ground, and a lot of places where they have to cross the street has been left vacant (cables just sticking out on both sides of the road).
 
there was an incident where water pipes were damaged due to the trenching... Not surprised if politics are now prohibiting further work...
Lets cross our fingers....

This is great news! My experience has been very positive the last 2 days. No speed drop in the evenings, actually getting more than what im paying for...
Lets hope it stays...

Yea they started with a bang, but it has been quiet now for the past week, I see though that they are busy with the splicing on the corner of Vaalrivier and Krokodilrivier st, so it seems to still be going. Apparently they said it will take more or less 12 weeks if I remember right.

Update: Ok so they have started with the splicing now on the corner of Vaalrivier and Echo street yestreday (Friday) so hopefully I can get my fibre soon (I live in Echo street).
