Fibre: Secunda Community

@123NET fibre Team

How are you progressing with the Secunda planning and how close are you to construction? Would you be able to give us some detail in regards?

Good evening JvanD,

Construction will start near the end of September and by mid-October we hope for our backhaul link to Jhb to be lit and our first customer to be connected. New customers have about 3 more months to decide if they want to sign up and be included in this "first wave". After 3 months from now, all new signups will have to wait for our "second wave", which will be 2016. :)

End September to mid October is a short time span, will you be able to pull it off? There is still allot of info I want to have, but I will pm you once I have the time. Shutdown is almost done for me.

I want to be in the first wave... and test the living socks off the service..don't cut me off when I kinda sorta stream 1080P every day :P

Please send out an email to all the "fist wave" signups once you begin construction (Status updates). You have to remind people that this is coming, most people are not monitoring this thread. It also gives them an idea of when to cancel Telkom and ISP.

That's the plan ;)

You make a good point about customers having to cancel their Telkom / ISP accounts in time though. I will put the suggestion forward to send out our emails as soon as we are in a position to do so.

Thanks :)

First wave ... screw that!

I wanna be the first person to be connected

@123NET fibre Team, what's the policy with regards to IPs?

1) Do you offer static IP as standard/option?
2) If one has a static IP, will it be possible to request a change to a new IP?

This seems like ages away. I am also on the "edge" of Secunda so I'll probably not be in the "first customer" group :P

This can't come soon enough. AH is in the toilet *again* with youtube... 1080p? nope, try buffering at 240p. :/

Back on topic :P
@123net my question maybe got lost in all this:

1) Do you offer static IP as standard/option?
2) If one has a static IP, will it be possible to request a change to a new IP?

Hi hawky358,

All our GigaBiz products include 1 free static IP, but have the option of an additional 4 static IPs at an extra cost of R300 p/m.

Kalin has mentioned that it might be possible to change IPs on the fly. I will suggest that he add this feature into our upcoming new "Client Dashboard" for our website :D

@123NET fibre Team - Why restrict thie static IP only to the business offering? Why not a bolt on service for normal end users?
