Though what most people actually want to know is whether this is actually going to happen or not :) since it has been stated that a certain amount of contracts are required in order to start things.

Wel the question I am interested in is what is the current number of contracts returned? Dont need Kalin for that.
 
I agree - this is pretty much the Xmas present you were promised but never received.
Why not go for the 100+ contracts and let the rest be deployed on word of mouth if feasible.
 
What I don't understand is how they can even expect contracts to be returned before addressing the concerns raised.

It's the changing conditions that most of us have a problem with. Almost 5 months have gone by where 123Net gave the impression that the 300 signups were already sufficient. Not a peep that you were going to require 500 contracts out of the 600 signups. This is what's so mind boggling, that you require more contracts the more the signups are.

You are also a new company with NO track record so can't expect many people to jump on board in one day and that without advertising. That's another mystery. Why not advertise if it's more contracts you want and then just go with whatever number you get? R21k is nothing compared to what it already costs and even if you get just 12 more people (you'll get far more) paying R449 it would make up for it in 4 months.
 
So if it's not going to happen I would like to see another ISP contend for the service. It's as simple as that.
 
I saw a bus drive by (not a driveby) this morning. SASOL empowering the community by upgrading the Secunda Library and it got me thinking of SASOL's track record. I believe in 2014 they spent 617 million on learnerships. They invested in the Secunda Mall... They resurface some of our roads... upgrade traffic lights. I'm pretty sure they bailed out the municipality before out of some financial issues.

You probably see where I'm going with this. Why not approach SASOL as an investor? You will have much more leeway and SASOL will most likely clear up any municipality issues with a phone call. 100 million is chump change for SASOL. Don't miss the bus 123net...
 
Renaming Secunda to Sasol.... but hey Secunda was a name given to this town due to Sasol 2 being built here....

Yea Sasol did and still does allot for the Secunda comunity. Will take allot for them to invest in fibre though...

Still no update on the contract ammounts? If you need some one to count them, forward it all to me, I will count them.

Sasol is currently in the process of a cost saving initiative. The only way sasol will invest in something the scale of fibre is if it also benefits them permanently.
