I seriously doubt that 123net is working with openserve. openserve (Telkom Wholesale) will build their own network and then allow open access on it, i.e. you can use any service provider.
 
Open Serve is Telkom Wholesale, rebranded. 123Net are not working with them...

Could be plausible that 123Net may be outsourcing to them then again it might not be. If so we haven't heard a peep in some time.

They could have made an impression.

If I were a CEO. Drumming up business would be fun. Get a float with bigass tvs and advertising my product publically and loudly. Pulling the attention of the consumer should be a high priority

Edit : Never mind I read up on it and its a Telkom partner meaning its TELKOM FTTH so this brought a smile to my face , at least I know when this 123net thing falls through the floor which it will Telkom will at least bring us some fibre if we can afford it . Big shrug at least Telkom is honest and upfront with their poor service.

I spoke to a telkom technician in April about this FTTH. According to him we were supposed to have fibre in January. Secunda is a class A suburb due to sasol. He also said that he will have more info end April after their finance meeting, but yea no new info since then. To be honest I dont care about anything telkom offer. I would rather wait for 123net.

Agreed. They will just be ripping people off again anyway. The horrific service history telkom has with South Africans are by FAR worse than the growing pains 123Net is currently having.

Rather Telkom than no ISP choice 123Net. Prices will drop with their offerings - it's early days for Telkom.

50Mb FTTH July 31st 2095

Telkom hasn't even considered maintaining the equipment in our area for over 25 years. I will be an elderly man with tears in my eyes by the time they decide to install fibre. and by that time. some new transdimentional technology capable of transmitting 50pettabits in 0.1ms will already exist

You should stop hating on a company that actually has a physical network.

And yes, quantum teleportation already exists. We should expect a new generation of fibre in the next 5 years.

The pink is "Get ready for 20/40 Mbps" - VDSL, purple is FTTH. There is zero indication of FTTH coming to Secunda. It's also not "construction" it's "consideration"

As far as I'm aware construction here in Constantia should begin within the next few weeks (if not already - there are guys digging up the main road as I type this).

Instead of raging, think about it logically. Telkom is deploying FTTH to 1 million homes in the next 3 years. The market is going to grow exponentially. New competitors will be emerging to exploit this (do you think Telkom, Web Africa and Vox will be the only ISP players?).

123Net is a single ISP provider with no proven infrastructure in SA. Where do you go if their backend gets congested? Nowhere.

Telkom makes sense in this instance. Otherwise I would still recommend Frogfoot/Link Africa.

The only reason I support telkom is because I literally have no other choice. .if they eventually install fibre I will not support them either way.
 
Even if telkoms price drops half of the cost it currently is for a 4mb line I still won't support them because yes. Telkom. The company that simply has n 30 year track record of $##t service.. that keeps secunda's equipment and infrastructure 25 years old.. I have 0 respect for a monopoly that has been surpressing competition for its entire run.
 
What? My 10mb line has zero issues... They are not bad at all man.
