Fibre speed issues

Who is your fibre provider?
I see IS is your ISP, is that correct?.
Is this a business account, or your home account?
Also, where do you live as I see most speedtests are to CT servers?
Do you have fibre all the way to the router, or do you have fibre outside, but copper inside, fibre and then wireless?
Do you stay in a complex?
Did you make sure all your download and uploads are off? Nobody streaming etc.

The ping is quite high if you live in CT,

octotel fibre - webafrica isp

this in a complex - 1st user
fibre throughout - pavements were dug up this year for fibre & octotel have installed on every floor or the building

speed tests using macbook pro with gigabyte ethernt port - connected directly to router via ethernet cable.
all wifi devices disabled - no background "connections" running on macbook pro

Are you cabled into your router point #1

This could be the most likely problem. I find on a 100mbps connection, if you connect to your router over wifi you're bound to experience fluctuations. This is even more likely when more devices connect to your wifi.

Cheapest solution is to cable as much as possible :D

all tests using cable direct to router - no other network clients connected - no backgroundd internet activity on mac.
(correct cable / gigabit ethernet on mac / 1m cable length)

Move over to CISP then... :)

What is the TP-link plugged into ? a fibre media converter ?

Do u still have this issue? your speeds are shocking...if they were international speedtests i'd understand a bit but local,on a 100mb package, thats useless! Ask your ISP to check the DB loss on the ONT/CPE link. IF the loss is too high it will affect the link stability and also the speed... Theres a number of things that could be wrong... Get the DB loss checked, also ask the ISP to confirm your bandwidth speed/profile as there may have been a config mistake when provisioning your service (either wrong speed package or perhaps a duplicate IP) - u never know. It'll be worthwhile comparing your fibre service with a neighbour also on that same network - he may have similiar issues - if so then i would say their network is a mess, or they are running out of bandwidth on the backbone, or there are throttling etc... On a local speedtest you should get +-95mbps up and down if its synchronous, otherwise if its not, you may only get half your max upload speed - it depends on the ISP. Either way your download speed locally should be in the 90's...
