FIFA 14 - PC

See those are the settings that I am used to for tournaments :)

If you want to be able to play on the same footing as everyone you would have to match they way the higher percentage of the players play

This. It's pointless harping on about semi-assisted vs bla bla. People should be allowed to play with whatever settings they're comfortable with because it is too late to change styles now. It's easier to go from semi to assisted than the other way.

The settings may change your experience but If you can't beat someone when you're both on assisted then you have no moral high ground.

Exactly as venom says I don't mind people playing on whichever settings suit them (I would much rather vs someone on assisted though as I would feel better having beat them without me having an advantage) but if you think you can play better on semi-assisted or manual then I won't want to force someone to play on assisted

But if you intend to take part in other tournaments/leagues besides this one I would recommend playing on assisted because that is what the 99% of the people I know play with assisted (well unless someone is better with semi or manual which sounds weird even saying it lol)

But if we can have a definite decision by tomorrow on what we are using I think it would be great that we all know the rules and stuff before hand also I am not sure if it is mentioned on the 1st page but a lot of places also only use sunny weather, using any weather is fine for me really but I am cool with just sunny also it isn't as game changing as this last discussion

Do you guys really think semi assisted is hard? I find it quite fun and I'm not a pro at all. I mean you only need to point in the general direction you want to pass and the game will generally pass it to you player you want. You just need to be a little mindful of the strength of the pass. I'm not saying people should be forced to play it for this competition, but I would recommend you guys switch over and try using it. It really is fun.

I would like players to match my level, if you don't want to play then I'm okay with that. If you like to cheese then so be it. I understand if you're noob and you use these settings, In every tournaments I've played (not online and not many here in CT/ even the damn Australians do it) they only use semi or manual. It was always thought that assisted was for younger players.

I played zed last night- I used semi/manual and he used assisted. He won 4-0. It's so pointless playing a game against an opponent when all it is, is rushing the player, making like two unrealistic passes and scoring a goal. He wanted to try on semi-manual and the game was totally different (either way- I thank you for trying)- no more rushing, no more 1 pass as you steal the ball, and he didn't even come close to scoring lololol. His shots were so wild-badly, because there was no CPU helping him with direction haha. There was no skill this time. Finished in 0-0.

SO all of you guys can play on assisted- that's fair- you have fun that way and can cheese each other. But say if you play me- why not take it down a notch and actually play with YOUR skill...not the CPU's.

play 11 games assisted against everyone else. 1 game semi or manual against me?

That's not asking a lot.

for me to play guys on assisted is cheese to me, i have never played that in fifa since I was a young-yin.

and no matter how good you are on manual or semi, you're never going to beat someone on assisted...because you could work so hard to get a quality shot on goal, only to have the assisted player make a pass from 1 side of the half to the other and put it on another players head...it's just "cheese".

You could play Barcelona against Pirates and there wouldn't be much of a difference. The passes would look the same, very glued and scripted...very robotic.

I just cant validate playing with assisted, if you want to play with an advantage so be it, but there is no way you can feel good about winning a game like that against a player who is clearly playing with his OWN skill and not the CPU's.

Like I said, I've only ever played in tourneys here in CT and Brisbane, Aus. Not ever did I come across a competitive league were guys play on assisted, it makes no sense to have the CPU play the game for you? These guys just don't use it in tournaments. Guess there are different ones of course, but most of the competitive FIFA guys I have come across.

If you play a fps- they don't allow assisted controls for that-why would they for FIFA lol?

Don't get me wrong- im 100% sure there are leagues with guys who play on assisted. I'm just guessing maybe it's the hardcore guys who don't play in those leagues because their isn't much skill from the player. I've never even looked for those leagues.

I usually steer clear of guys who play on assisted because of the cheese. Manual/Semi guys usually do once they make the transition.

This guy knows what's up. Agree whole-heart-idly. Will be looking forward to having a fair clean match against you jakkalas.

It might be easier for you guys cause you guys are used to it. I for one don't play on semi or assisted, not sure if I ever have but hey, I feel some people might have an advantage but hey, once the rules are in place then that's it... I'll still give u guys a hiding

Only my passing is set to semi btw. My shooting and through-ball is still assisted(only manual and assisted options available) and crosses are semi assisted. Does that count?

I'm keen... I'm definitely gonna be playing tonight!

Only all-manual is the way to play this game, will happily compete with you on the same level bud! way-to-go! Why haven't I had matches against guys who play with their skill!

I'll humbling accept a hiding from you if you're on manual!

semi assisted passing and crossing is the best start. At least every cross you make doesn't land on your players head every single time! lol

move onto manual shooting to get used to it. Once you have it down, you can find yourself setting up goals you would never see before. It's hard but you'll never turn back once you discover how fun it is. Scoring a goal with your own skill is very rewarding.

Most assisted goals are very mirrored to one another- take note next time when you play against someone on assisted. The games are very rushed- very arcadish, I guess maybe because i like it to be pretty realistic.

Do you guys realise that the mini-games help you progress away from assisted? the more challenges you pass the more you lose the assisted settings. That's why I'm surprised long-time players play on assisted and not their own skill.

Winning a competition you didn't win is a little weird to me, the cpu helps you do it.

Sweet I'll look out for when you're online bud!

How can you tell if someone is playing manual or auto?
I could agree to play manual but just leave it on auto?

jakkalas needs to work on his defence first :P

Also, i always play on whatever the default settings are, but i don't mind it on semi

When you start the match you can set the controller setting to be used by both teams, so there isn't any way to cheat and set it to auto

You''ll really know, for me is stands out as clear as day. If you see a guy one touch passing constantly and having no required build-up whatsoever. Then he is on assisted. The sprint button is usually spammed and ping pong passing is a thing of beauty to see lol. It looks and feels very arcadish. Everything is rushed, no thought goes into the game because no real skill is required. The assisted player just pushes a button and the rest is done for him. direction, pace of the pass- none of that matters on assisted.

You'll also see a player run down the sideline, with the defender all over him, the player will be off balance, cross while falling over, and put the ball directly on a teamates head for a goal- this is also spammed by guys who use assisted, why because it's so easy, you could even be using a player with 70 overall and you would get this because it's assisted!

Aslo to point out to the guys who consider moving, especially for manager mode etc, the games are more realistic once you get it down, because player attributes as well as your own skill are more prominent.

The games are like chalk and cheese, excuse the pun.

I'm guessing manual controls won't work on things like fut? That's the only thing I play now and that's where I'd like to practice?

linkinpark would have played the game with assisted on as he plays on default. Def worth a try linkinpark, just give it time so you can get used to it, once you have it even remotely down, you will never go back.

Will have a try, should i set all the options to Semi? Or just passing and shooting? If i remember correctly, one of them only had Assisted and Manual as options
