Sun City - FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke says South Africa isn't ready yet to host the World Cup, and he still doesn't know where all the teams will be based during the tournament.

With barely three months until the event starts, organisers still face problems with Soccer City - the incomplete Johannesburg venue for the opening match and final - and filling stadiums.

"If the question is 'Could we host the World Cup tomorrow morning?' the answer is 'no'," Valcke said on Tuesday after a team workshop meeting in Sun City.

"At this stage, we couldn't play the World Cup because Soccer City isn't ready. At this stage, we couldn't play the opening game. That's a fact. At this stage, we have 700 000 tickets still to sell, at this stage I can make a list of things that aren't ready for the World Cup.

"We have 108 days - it seems short, it is short, but even if we have to stay awake all night, every day, we will be ready by the time of the World Cup."

I could have sworn Danny, JZ and others told us we were ready.

How dare you post something negative regarding south africa hosting the world cup ;)

of course JZ is ready....ready to sex them silly :D

New national team. Bazuma zuma! The only thing they have in common is their surname!

But serious now, ofcourse we aren't ready, wer'e never ready.

I will pretend to be suprised at this.... :D

Can't want to see our fornicating leader's reply to this.

I think the point is: we will be ready come June 11.
I'm sure some of you are hoping otherwise, but you really don't have nowhere to hide. Tickets are at the ready, most matches are sold out and most of us (bar the few of you) can hardly contain the excite and you can generate as many stories as you want, take those stories as out of context as you... the world cup is here. If you can't stand the heat best stay out of the kitchen.

Sensationalisim at it's best.
108 days to organise a place for the teams to stay and train, even my grandma could organise that.
Regarding ticket sales, well ... FIFA's books are already in the black, so it does not matter.

Your grandma is not out shagging twenty-somethings, is she ?

are we surprised?

/cue the SWC MyBB police to come and invade this thread and rap you over the knuckles for all the "lies" you are telling.

*lancelotSA cap*

It's only because Fifa wants S.A not to be ready. Positive thoughts people.... :erm:

Seriously though it is a bit sensationalist.

please read highlighted words. If none of you know, and you probably dont because you lot probably couldnt differ a soccer ball from a frisbee, the germans, the masters of engineering, were still painting the stadium the morning of the kick off of the WC. so next time please read before you comment mmkay ;)

agggg, we we do still have the old stadia if this goes balls up.

Let's hold thumbs. If they screw up and we get no revenue for the places they built we ( the tax payer) will just be taxed more next year.

So lets not hope for the worst people we are already going to face a tough 2011.

I don't know if myBB is your only source of news, but if you read more credible sources and maybe watch some TV you'd realise all the other stadia are already in use except Soccer City & Mbombela (which is handed over). Take a break and look at skyscrapercity.com for an unbiased opinion of the stadia construction projects. They have pictures and everything:)

Oh my this is just too funny/scary how users post their 2c/agenda without reading.

And if it did not rain in PE... I was just saying it because people are such doomsday Sayers!! It's not as if that is the only sports grounds in SA, and that if the paw - paw hit the fan ( drought, delays, strikes) the Soccer world cup will be held in miellie fields with lions hunting the players..

This is happening and it's in all of our interests that it goes down well.

And yes I do know the other stadiums is finished or close to it. And if the hotel is not complete there are others available. The way some people are going on we are all still living in clay huts and does not know what an hotel is..
