I assume it's for games mostly in Polokwane, Mbombela, and Rustenburg

So we are not ready YET, almost everything is on track. Soccer City is the only stadium that is behind shedule, that and Mbombela Stadium had to have it's pitch relaid AGAIN. :wtf:

But, the importent thing is that for the most part we are on track. Joburg's Rea Vaya is running, and expaning in March, Cape Town's IRT is almost done, PE's BRT lanes are doen in some ares and finishing in others.

Let's not forget how much SA has already done for teh WC. Also, when Brazil hosted the WC, their main stadium wasn't finished for about 10 years after the WC>

The inner city route was suspended for lack of interest. It has been relaunched.
It was apparently easier to walk to the inner city because the buses took too long stuck in traffic. More routes have been added I think.

Not possible for every piece of road so the buses have to merge with normal traffic in certain areas.

Yes that's how it works on the 'main' route. However there are also buses that pick people up to take them to the Rea Vaya stations. These need to move through normal traffic. Those routes were suspeneded since people simple worked from their work to the nearest Rea Vay station.

Well CT's IRT has been scaled back, but is still on shedule to be done before the WC kicks off.

Cape Town's IRT is a joke. It took them a year to do about 15% of the work - that's not ALMOST done. In 3 months it will not be ready either - they will need at least another year to get 2 stations running. If the rest of your enthusiasm is as valid as your comments about CT's "IRT" then I have to say SA is and will not be ready for WC 2010.

Whats the obsession with being ready? Its so stupid how the catch phrase has been "ready" for 2010 when many projects still need to be completed....then theres overlay etc.

The only concern is Soccer City, with its pitch issues.

Many cities are still busy with transport projects, but this is no surprise.

What rubbish. The only concerns were budgetary concerns not actual progress, with the two 2010 stations on track for March/April. The prototype station in Granger Bay will be ready end Feb.

The city is about to sign off on the prototype bus in Brazil, which is now complete.

Civic Station under construction. Spectators going to the stadium will use this Main Transport hub.

This is as of end November. They have already started installing the glass facades at the stations.

IRT Event Stations: Progress

The Granger Bay IRT station will act as a prototype station, during the testing and training phase.

Civic Centre Feeders will depend on funding and the type of vehicles tp provide a top up feeder service if necessary.
