Truth is Saudis did not invest in their football, they invested in marketing, the fact that the marketing happened in the football space is just a wonderful coincidence.

It's a bit disingenuous imo, as much as I dislike the way Saudi operate in their league, they do have a football culture though and success with the national team. The team is made up of Saudi born players too, not bought ones.
They beat Argentina in the last world cup, which was huge for them. They have won the Asian cup 3 times, and have qualified for the WC 7 times.

The strategy of the big money to attract stars has never worked to improve your football, China tried it, it never worked the same way it's not working for the Saudis.
They need to find a way to reverse engineer the strategy, instead of being obsessed about importing big stars, be obsessed about exporting unknowns to other nations and make stars out of them, even if it means paying teams to have their players, something similar to what Ajax Cape Town had with Ajax Amsterdam.
But there is a lot of things that are in the way, religion being the biggest stumbling block.

Personally, I think we have enough in the team to cause a Canadian upset, but I am not willing to bet on that. Logic says 2-0 to Canada. Though I would be glad to be proven otherwise.
