Fight Telkom, APC urges

ICASA will spring into action and hold meetings with stake holders and role players - the public will be called apon for their views - talks at the highest level - and the only thing that gets done, is us

Perfectly said.. Couldnt say it better

I've just cancelled my telkom services since I've been without a working line since 28th Feb and 2 technicians later, 3 (30 minute on hold) phone calls and one final visit to the direct, lost revenue (as I use my line for work I'm self employed) and lost email (telkomsa.net account) I'm finally free of the beast. I wanted to go with Vodacom (crap - couldn't get service or usage statistics and affiliated to telkom nogal) and then sentech (utter crap service - salesman yet to contact me) and now looking at MTN or CellC. Any enemy of Telkom is a friend of mine. I will gladly use whatever resources I have to fight these bastards wherever I can. Call on me, please :-) lol (I might laugh now but don't be fooled I despise Telkom)

Nothing but competition in the field will work. All these meetings and talks and get togethers produce nothing but hot air. No one listens to them anymore.

What we need is for NeoTel and everyone else to just knuckle down and keep fighting where it counts: out in the field. They already chipping away slowly but surely.

What can we as consumers do as well at the moment? I will convince my parents to switch to NeoTel as soon as we can but until then, we can't do much. I want to help but how?

Well let's not get down in the mouth about it :D Telkom has been here for ages, will be here for a while longer but we sure can't give up :)

What can we actively do to fight Telkom more?

You forgot the Memorandum of Understanding.;)

All the urging in the world will not get Icasa to get anything done! The APC has wasted some vital breath IMO...

Perhaps we should best inform APC just exactly how incompetent ICASA really are and how ICASA themselves have contributed to the whole telecoms fiasco by not holding Telkom accountable and also the fact that government still hold a controlling stake in the said telecoms company.
