Hi guys,
I downloaded a video in 4 parts :
whatever.avi.001 , whatever.avi.002 , whaterver.avi.003 & whatever.avi.004

How on earth do i extract it to watch?

I tried renaming each file, removing the '001' part after the 'avi' part, but it still wont play.

any ideas?

Please help guys, I really want to watch this vid.

Thanks

That usually indicated that its part of a compressed file. WinRar will probably extract it for you.

Winrar won't xtract them, says ' no archives found in selected files'.
Its really frustating....800mb download on a 386 line :(, took days & now I cannot watch it

Try 7zip.

I'm pretty sure it's been compressed into multiple files.

shots for the replies guys, i have to go looking for HJ split & 7zip....

HJSplit did the trick...thanks guys...........where will we be without this forum!

I have not seen HjSpilt mentioned for years...ah the good old days of splitting 700MB iso images into 1.44mb parts...oh well now we have 16gb flash drives

cmd
copy /b whatever.avi.001+whatever.avi.002+whatever.avi.003 C:\whatever.avi

For if you can't get a file joiner.

right click one file and "open with" winrar or 7 zip. should create a file association thereafter for all the subsequent files.

That does'nt work, but no worries as HJSplit worked perfectly, And it was 330 kb to dload the programme :)
