Don't make fun, but we have stuck with Vox since before they merged with Datapro.
Most of the reviews I read here were against using Vox. Still, I always had good and prompt service from them. Also for the type of moneys I paid, I didn't expect 'Hetzner' quality service... or so I heard. So it has come to this.
For the last 5 days we have been receiving email erratic and the timestamps on the mails are all wrong. Vox has finally accepted that the problem is on their side (what the problem is. I don't know). My bosses are p!$$ed and I need to move this mail hosting somewhere. ASAP!!
Who's the best. I would like to move the mail hosting but also the internet access part of it. Am I wrong that Hetzner is not an ISP per se but they are the biggest hosting company in SA?

If a service is critical there should be redundancy in place always!

To your questions though, could you sum up the services required? Easier to list appropriate providers then

OK, i should have listed. Here goes...
1. internet access uncapped, 4mb line (ja, I know 4mb is not standard for a company but atm were max about 20gig per month. Thats just normal email, skype, facebook...)
2. Email accounts for 20 users (pref. hosted exchange with Blacberry sync and so forth. We on POP now)
3. Remote access

And that's it. Thanx

Uncapped go for telkom, openweb or mweb
Email hosted exchange mweb or Vodacom business ( or alternately switch to Googleapps with their range of services )
Define remote access?

PsyWulf, I'm running a small server for website testing of my Pentium1 at work. Also in the near future we would like to connect our pastel ladies with a vpn to the server at the office.
I am considering telkom as they are already managing the line to the office. Also 4mb is the fastest we can get here on the farm about 10km outside S/West.

Pastel,over VPN,eish good luck with that ;)

Well the pastel tannies says it's possible and our tasting room is about 300m away from the office. What do you suggest?

Oh it's entirely possible, but I wouldn't recommend it without better quality synchronous internet service. Rather use remote desktop services with the VPN,also prevents people from walking off with data easily

300meters i'd run cable or even wireless

Ja, that wireless thingy won't work so well with a couple of ancient buildings and massive trees in the way. The cable worked out too expensive with the paving and tar road in the way. I'll have to look into the remote desktop services. I think thats what the pastel tannies suggested. Thanx Psy, It's nice to just bounce this off someone.

I have nothing but praise for Google Apps. Certainly worth a move.

it678, me too. The bosses are not that keen. Something about not professional enough. But, I would go for that in a minute. Most of our sales guys travel a lot and it' always such a schlep to ensure that their work and gmail is synchronized.

+1 for using remote desktop for remote Pastel access, look at RemoteApp from microsoft or 2X application server.

Hi penguinfan

I'm sorry to read about the problems you've experienced with Vox Datapro.

Could you PM me a reference umber or more information so that I can investigate further and see where we could help you?

Hi Vox, i was just checking this thread. If i knew you were on here, I would have called on your help. But, I have already resolved the issue. Unfortunately, I have decided to cancel. I'll keep you in the loop via pm. Thanx

Im not surprised you moved from Vox they are very very expensive and have really crap speed and lame packages
