Finally the real reason for Load shedding

No sense in reacting as you are to this risible nonsense. They carefully curate this sort of press release for their dumb ANC-cattle audience. ANC Propaganda is not meant for people with working brains.

Gordhan also states that African National Congress (ANC) is not to blame and load shedding is not the party’s fault.

“In 1983 under a different government, we had load shedding which led to a decision to build several power stations which were eventually completed in the early 1990s, and are still problematic so not everything is the fault of the ANC.”

He said rolling blackouts stemmed back from the 1980s and the deliberate power cuts would continue for at least another nine to twelve months.

So it apartheids fault because the power stations build back then are a problem. :)
I guess it is up to the "different government" to fix Eskom then. The current one doesn't even know what fix looks like.

Dom fok's gonna dom fok. What do you expect him to say, confess that they cannot govern themselves? Lol, that would validate what the NP said about them instantly. Can't have the white man being prophetically accurate now, can we?

Factually correct? Don't seem to see any history on this since most literature refer to 2007 as the first instance of load shedding.

It must be true. I haven't seen or heard any "journalist" calling Jamnadas out yet

Maybe they're waiting for power to come back on

Here be part of the problem; most scribblers suck up the porkies the trough pigs dish out without questioning them. Either too scared to, don't know better or part of the ANC cabal.

Those power plants kept us going right up till 2008 without any issues, yet they are to blame now almost 40 years on? Yeah pull the other one, also there was no load shedding during the 80s sure the EAF was at 70% still higher than the current what 59% but the lights were kept on.

I was studying in 83 and don't remember any load shedding. Gordhan needs to provide some facts here.

Well in Northriding living with my dad in the 90s we often had power failures up to 4 hours, right through till I moved out in 2007, mainly as the substation wasn't maintained and extended after all the new townhouses started popping up.

That was the fault of the scrapping of the concept of community development which prevented someone from building something that just didn't fit into the area. Big houses on big plots were bought by developers and demolished, building 10 shoddy little townhouses for rapid recoup and profit on the investment.

Unfortunately, the power, water and sewage systems weren't built to take the increase in population. All due to no regulation and greed. Municipalities could increase their rates by allowing this to happen.

My brother in Christ, it isn't those stations:

Turns out if you maintain something, it generally lasts a very good amount of time. Ditto for putting decent quality coal into them.

South Africa's coal fired power stations were built to run on cheap low quality coal leaving the high quality coal for export. This was a strategic decision by government and led to the Richards bay export terminal. The boilers are designed to burn low quality coal and can't burn high quality coal without damage.

Hitachi had no idea of this and built Kusile and Medupi boilers to burn high quality coal when the mines nearby produce low quality coal for the power stations close by. Kendal and Wilge power stations are visible from Khusile.

Thats one of many basic reasons it not childs play to start a new country, you have to have your basic ducks in a row and keep it like that right through, resources & money are not a game to play, they are connected to Nature which will come down hard if ignorant.

According to Moeletsi Mbeki, Thabo's intelligent brother, the ANC didn't have a single policy in place when they got handed a country in 1994. They had had since 1912 to write policies. Even the unachievable Freedom Charter was written for them by white communists.

Who dreamed up the likes of masakhane et al? And who wrote their ready to govern policy guidance/framework.

Notice how the pro ANC MyCadre's keep well away from commenting on posts like this?

I'm rereading his Architects of Poverty at the moment. It was written in 2009. In it he states that the reason for the malaise of the other sub Saharan countries economies was because they surrendered their SOE's to Western intersts. That was one of the reasons the ANC wasn't going to do it and look what happened. He just couldn't acknowledge corruption and looting in the ANC.

He was wrong on many points but facts like policy are known. He knew they weren't ready.
