Thanks Gary. I'm running XP and have located the folder. I edited the file with the code but it didn't work, but I'll try yours. Thanks.

Ja, in Windows XP it is located at...

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<ProfileName>\chrome\
 
I'm getting some bugs at home and at work - on startup it sometimes says "well, this is embarrassing..." with web-pages that locked up or something....

very strange - anyone else getting this?

Yes, I'm getting it on Windows 7 at home. And it crashed once on me as well. :(

When you get that embarrassing message you should be able to choose the tabs you want to re-open. Maybe they just changed the default behaviour of the recovery feature to ask you first which pages you want to re-open.

They've hidden the cookie settings away. Under the privacy panel, you need to click on the "Remember history" drop down, then choose "use custom settings for history" to get to the cookie features. It still doesn't seem to be remembering though.
 
Firefox 3.5.2 is still hard masked on Gentoo. Hoping to see it marked at least experimental before trying to install it :(

it just never asks anymore "new session / open prev tabs" - it just bombs out every now and again on startup ?:confused:

on win7 and on xp :mad:
 
Hey Gary. The file you sent worked. I then realised why mine didn't work. The .css file I had in my directory was called userChromeExample.css instead of just userChrome.css or whatever it was called. Thanks.

ah, yes... there should be two example files in that folder. I have no idea what they are or how they work. But apparently you can trick out your FF by playing around with the CSS file! :D

Yeah, so silly me initially went an edited the "Example" file, that's why the tab thing didn't work :o It was only after you sent me your file, that I realised the filenames were different :o
 
I've been running 3.5 since launch, and honestly, I've noticed that the browser freezes intermittently when loading pagers, and giving problems in facebook whereby comment fields don't always expand so you can type more!... but in Chrome its fine!
 
I still find Opera 10 beta to be faster than FF3.5 (though to be fair its not a vast difference)

However I have gone back to FF as it is the easiest way i have of sharing the same profile between Windows and Linux. Everything works as it was with 3.0.11

Never tried Opera, except on my phone, so I can't comment. But yeah, I also like FF in that it is so easy to transfer profiles between Windows and Linux. I also like the fact that I can have virtually identical setups of FF in both OSes.

I use live bookmarks for RSS so I will never change to Opera.... Live bookmarks is one of the real FF winners IMO.
 
Hmmm... I have a problem. I had to reinstall over the weekend. Problem is now that I add the userChrome.css into my FF /Application Data/... directory, whenever I close the last tab, FF completely closes, instead of just closing the one tab. Any idea on how to remedy this?
 
Installed it on my XP laptop and it's working fine for a week. Also downloaded and installed the Linux version (Shiretoko) at home. Identical experience to 3.0.11 so far
 
Just a pity the Add-On developers take so long to update their plug-ins.
Some of the plug-ins are essential to my daily PC tasks.
Guess that what happens when you start to rely too heavily on open source apps.

Hi Merc... ja you need to change one setting in your about:config

Open a new blank tab and type about:config in the title bar...
Click the button that says "I'll be careful, I promise"
Scroll down the list until you find "browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab"
and change the setting there to "false"
That should fix it!
