Firefox 3.6 ready

Speedup

Mozilla is constantly working on bettering its Javascript performance and now with Google pumping out ever faster versions of its Chrome browser, Firefox is working extra hard. In addition Firefox has also been working on faster startup and shutdown of Firefox, something that is much needed.
Nice.

I've used the Release Candidate for a while now. Haven't noticed any major differences even though there are some under the hood.

Been using it since beta 1 been rock solid for me since then

Would be nice if they fixed the memory issue. My FireFox is running at 200mb with Gmail, Google Calendar and MyBB open.

If I recall correctly one of the updates coming for 3.6 is going to allow a separate process to be created for each tab and add-on.

Then when one of your tabs crashes it doesn't pull the whole Firefox instance down with it, you only need to recover that single tab.

I absolutely HATE that. I prefer one process for the whole application, thank you. IE8 did that and I did the registry-override to remove it. I know Chrome sandboxes each tab, but is it contained in multiple processes?

Firefox 3.6 ready to (t)roll... smart people stick with IE8
fanboys go for FAILFOX

I've been using the nightly builds for a while now and this is a cool version - made cooler by the fact that I had a hand in a few patches :D

..... Firefox is a memory hog but hey they have a bunch of handy add-ons.
I have been running MemoryFox addon for a month or so now. It drops memory usage dramatically (in 3.5.x) and I haven't found any negative side effects. Give it a go. I haven't tried it with 3.6 yet.
Now to just get my few final addons working then I'll be happy again on 3.6
