Firefox 40 is here

The way these version numbers jump is a little ridiculous

But can it run Adobe Flash?

^ It would be nice if they could sort out this issue. Flash may be going away in future, but it is still with us at the moment.

Let's first get Adobe to create software that doesn't have holes you can drive a truck through?

This morning's list of fixes:

https://helpx.adobe.com/security/products/flash-player/apsb15-19.html

I count 30 vulnerabilities fixed. Now yes, they are fixed, but at this rate, how many are remaining? More are discovered almost every month. Also, the oldest one (CVE-2015-3107) is 2 months old, the others around 3 weeks and newer.

The best thing that could happen is for all browsers to drop flash, will rapidly expedite it's death.

Agreed. Most mobile devices already don't support it, so it's just the desktop browsers lagging behind.

I ditched Firefox ages ago. The messed up search bar, corrupted saved images and frequent crashing was too much for me. I tried a number of browsers and settled on Chrome.

Never had any of those problems.
Been using it for more than a decade.

Such is life. When I say the search bar was messed up, I mean it isn't as useful as it used to be since the redesign. Having my bookmarks sync to Chrome on Android is awesome too, and it would take a lot to convince me to switch browsers and lose that cross-platform compatibility. Not crazy about Firefox on Android. I'd sooner use Opera.

Firefox syncs just as well.

Not a fan of chrome or opera but at the end of the day browsers are a personal choice.

To benefit from the sync functionality though you need to use Firefox on your mobile devices too. I find Chrome a bit better than Firefox on desktop, but substantially better than Firefox on mobile. So overall it's the winner for me. And yeah, of course it's personal preference.

Firefox on my android syncs perfectly with my PC desktops (windows & linux); bookmarks, passwords, alles.

I'm not commenting on mobile Firefox's ability to sync, but its quality as an app.

My mistake - still prefer the fox on all my devices though :)

Just checked out Firefox to see if it's changed much since I last used it, and I must give credit where it's due - Firefox has improved a lot. It looks more modern than Chrome, and the smooth scrolling is great. If only Firefox on Android didn't have such crappy tab management.
