And i only have 6 tabs open with normal forum sites and kalahari.net

Search addons for 'vacuum' - you're looking for an addon called Vacuum Places Improved.

Install it, and there will be a small icon on your status bar. Click it.

Reduce your history size, I have mine set at 7 days. (Tools->Options->Privacy tab).

Restart ff and see how that goes. My ff uses about 100-odd meg.

Haha ja the leecher is awesome Keeper.

Something happened over the last few days, my ff mem usage was never this high, and it also slows down my pc. Will try the app you mentioned.

I still think FF's app model has to be flawed. It's still a memory hog and has been since day one. Probably a pathetic garbage collector coupled with massive tab and window histories, etc.

dude my mem usage on firefox is like at 80 decided to use google chrome instead

I've noticed mine too is getting excessive... 1 tab open (Gmail) with sometimes 2 or maybe 3 and it can hit 120MB!

Damn, Firefox has been proven to use less memory in RAM than Chrome but those mem leaks in Firefox piss me off. Viva Chrome v4.

/Opera Mini 5 beta 1 rocks the 5800XM.

My Firefox generally idles along at 1.2GB or so, but thanks to Vacuum Places Improved, it's down to like 320MB, which is way more acceptable.

so how do you fix this ? coz its irritatating when it takes 5min for firefox to start

So now i closed ff and the process keeps running in the task manager with 503mb usage. There must be something hogging ff or something. Will have a look at some of the apps.
