Firefox not a particularly great browswer

Tried Firefox for about a 2 months. Just went back to Chrome this week.

It is just hard to beat Chrome.

I would try Edge if they allowed plugins like lastpass. Until the, no!

I have LastPass on my Edge browser.

It's the history TABS. It defeats the whole point of browser security. You're at an internet cafe and despite clearing all your history, the only way to remove the history tabs glaring at you on the home page is to manually delete them one by one as if you have nothing better to do with your existence.

What browser do you guys use? I used to swear allegiance to Firefox but those days are gone. I am contemplating Chrome.

Glad to help. Also bear in mind you can add many more than the few default ones. Wikipedia, RARBG, Pirate Bay, Extra Torrents, IMDB etc all easy to add. Just Google for their search addresses. Only sometimes they are added automatically to the search list.

I use FF primarily. Sometimes I use Chrome if something not working, like NoScript prevents website from running normally (given allow the website's scripts, but external scripts break it and enabling them is too risky.)

Sometimes website developers forget to add this, but Add to Search Bar extension fixes this.

As for performance issues, if there is obvious slowdown and lag, then abouterformance answers these questions. Recently, after a new update FF became really slow, and it turned out that one of extensions slowed down it to grinding halt.

Exactly. All apps needed to be installed from the app store and run on windows. I want it to be installed on the browser only like with FF and Chrome add-ons.

Windows itself feels bloated already without all these store apps.

My last issue is not the fault of windows/browser but our company policy. All Windows store apps are blocked and can not be installed or updated ruling Edge out on my work pc entirely.

And your company's IT group seem to not understand what they need to do to effectively utilise WIN 10. Edge is automatically installed (and so is IE 11), and does not come via the app store unless it has been blocked deliberately.

And further, Edge will be breaking away from Win 10 and will be available via the MS store from about September this year. So, if your company continues to globally block access to the MS Store, you will be even worse off soon.

Well I would think if the app runs in windows instead of only when the browser is run(add on) that it would have a performance impact when it is not actually needed?

Anyway, yes I agree. Our group policy is a bit skew and they will realize that pretty soon.

These are still "extensions" just as they have always been. So no different from what you have with Chrome etc. They activate when needed.

Opera Neon feels like an Electron shell (though I'm sure it's a Chromium wrapper without the Electron stuff...) - quite slow when it came out (not sure about now though).

Vivaldi takes some getting used to, but a really good browser IMO.

Cliqz looks pretty sweet - gonna give that a try soon.

Brave has a terrible UI/UX... No wonder they don't advertise it.

It's also the most bloated and error prone.

Presto was one of the most advanced engines. It fell back after Opera stopped developing it in favour of using a Chromium clone.
