Careful with these. Those pipeline tweaks have been mentioned in other "speed guides" for FF and they put strain on servers so use them conservatively.

Good point, disclaimer added to FAQ :)

I've tried all 8...

How are we meant to use them conservatively exactly?

Yikes! It is much much faster for me though. Almost everything opens with one click...

I would suggest everyone use these tweaks if it were not for your comment...care to elaborate?

As I read on one site:

Great little tips, but only one problem, and that’s that you’re breaking servers by doing this. 3-5 requests is fine, but trying to do 30 requests at once puts some strain on the server. If two people try to access the same page at once with this set, that’s 60 connections. Most httpd’s are set to cut off after there are 100 connections made. So, 4 people with this set could not access the same site. I urge you to think things through before setting something like this and killing the websites you browse.

Also, linkage.

So we should change it back?? :(

That is odd. That seems to suggest that some sites can only handle 100 concurrent requests. I find that hard to believe....

That's probably a decision that you'll have to make yourself. I changed mine back because I didn't experience any discernible speed increase.

Damnit. Finally something to make the internet good and now we probably shouldn't use it :mad:

What if I change that first integer to 5 or 10 or something instead of 30??

Cos this really has made my browsing superfast...

You're free to do as you please :D I'm sure people won't come knocking at your door to break your legs because you send 30 HTTP requests instead of 4 :p

Hehe, ya. And I am sure the servers can handle it. Maybe they'll think they are getting more traffic which will make them happy :)

But if you do kill MyBroadband, expect a few of us to show up with baseball bats :p

I have played around with a lot of these tweaks ever since Firefox 1.5 and I have never noticed a discernible difference. I disabled them again in the interests of being a good netizen. ;) They do obviously work for some people though. Have not figured out why yet.
