So far it's spinning nicely, and silently (which is important). How effective it is in terms of upping the room temp I'm not entirely sure.Feedback and pics?
I didn't take pics - but it looks exactly like in the link

Just get fire bricks. drill and cut to sizePicked up a unit of Facebook marketplace (again) for R4k. Need to replace some of the brick inside but I see it includes a custom shape with air holes (down about 15 percent bricks missing).
Anyone recognise the brand? Looks perhaps no longer made.
Got the gardener to give it a refresh with high temp paint but probably didn't scuff sand the front enough prior to primer, so might have to strip it again.
Rigged it up outside on for a test (given it's a used unit & & &). Results were pretty good with a small amount of wood.
Now decision to be made on whether to close up one side of the double sided space this would go into, or rather use this in the bar area or main bedroom, and spring for a new full double sider.

So spoke to them, they recommended I reach out to fireplace warehouse or GCfires because they have different brands to identify the stove, since itll be easier to buy the exact size. Sounds like the "stone" bricks are tricky to find in generic large format while the vermiculite is super easy. Before you do, contact Beauty Fires in Fourways, maybe they'll sell you a sheet that you can cut in to the sizes you need...

So will pause on the procurement since I am, also now thinking just get them professionally serviced before install, but not sure if I have appetite for the price they seem to charge...
Received this quote today for the Plamen Tara - does anyone have any idea if this is a reasonable quote or not? Also interested in the answers so will be following.
I'm currently also looking to install a fireplace and have been looking at the Kratki k7 and Plamen Tara. Both claim to have good local support, only hope the sales people are right... does anyone know anything about these brands?
A quick update.Went over to Home fires, they were great. They also had fire bricks for R40 ea, so a win all around. They Identified the branding in seconds, which lead me to the manufacturer (local) - Infiniti 13kw unit. Retails for R33k, I got it for R4k.So spoke to them, they recommended I reach out to fireplace warehouse or GCfires because they have different brands to identify the stove, since itll be easier to buy the exact size. Saw this a bit late, but here's my 2c. Renovated in 2018 and decided on a Franco Belge from Fireplace Studio in Bergvliet. R38k plus installation at the time. Not sure what it would cost now. Had no issues. I refuse to buy firewood, so it was important that I can burn bigger pieces. I can easily fit a 200mm diameter log of about 300 in length. That will burn for a while. Slow release of heat and means my wood lasts a bit longer. What brands would you recommend for closed combustion fireplaces? I'm looking for two small (4-6 kW) units, but a good seal to keep as much as possible smoke out of the house is high on my priority list. I've been looking at the Megamaster Bailey, but I don't know enough about fireplaces to say if they're worth their price, or just riding on Megamaster being a well-known brand.
Indeed.Sister-in-law is in the market for a new fireplace. She got some quotes. The Morso 1630 we paid R40k for in 2022 is now R60k. That's a 50% increase in 4yrs. Unreal!

Where can one find a good supplier of wood (Blue Gum or Black Wattle) in PTA East or Centurion?
I just install fireplaces in my living room (insert) and bedroom (free standing).
So I went to FireWood Farm (mentioned somewhere) in Fourways to check them out. Bought a few bags, and man what a difference between the wood you buy from the side of the street and these guys. Thank you. I will check them out when I'm in Pretoria end of this week.![]()

This one?Yep, we may be selling our Morso 1630 in the coming months, I love the thing but we have a massive area to heat so looking at a Beckers 385 Premium anthracite heater that we can run 24/7.
