Firewood Prices

What I do nowadays is pay my gardener R150 a day plus a packed lunch, to take my bakkie and go chop down a full load (~150Kg) of Pine and wattle from the nearby forest. Got a nice pile outside under the carport thats unused, but it seems moisture is seeping into it. Gotta look at getting a big plastic or something to cover it.

yeah there is a guy close to me but i dont want to bother with all that

get my wood delivered and kla
Wood should last you pretty long considering you bulk up your fires with charcoal anyways.

Trust me, if you paid me R150 to slave in your garden and then tell me to take your bakkie to go cut up 150 kg of wood for you and return I will be heading straight home to the Eastern Cape in your bakkie

I would take the wood with me for good measure.. no better deal than a free bakkie load of wood with the purchase of the bakkie...

Why do you add a packed lunch in there as if it makes up for the stingy amount you are paying the man..

He gets his usual salary at the end of the month, the R150 is just for the half day's extra work he does.

so why i say she is giving me the run arounds, i found her on FB ..she stays in bellville im in parow .few mins away

never met her before and she asked for R500 for petrol to cut the tree and to deliver
So it's green wood not seasoned...

nope not seasoned wood ..

does seasoned wood not burn faster as its drier
Not necessarily, what it does do, is burn a lot hotter cause it's not wet.. so that means you can burn less for greater heat output..

So I did all that research then opted just to get 6 bags of bluegum for R75 each from Houtkop on Main Road Kirstenhof, opposite tears (just past J&J)
Ended up being 22 about pieces in one bag I opened weighing about 20kg, but all seems good and dry. Will add to the sheet :)

just so I can look back and feel like an idiot!

@The_Mowgs and @dualmeister go half half on bulk wood purchases to save on costs including the delivery fee when they buy wood by the truck load. See if you can find a neighbour to purchase wood cheaper like this
This brings back memories. We sent one of our 8 ton trucks to collect a load of wood packed in bags from a game farm one year. Have no idea what we paid but we had wood for a very long time. Was shared between friends and family.

Everywhere I went for a kuier I saw our wood lmao. Still have some somewhere.

Just collected my first load. 5.8kg a bag weighed a number of them of rooibos/karee for R17 per bag, nice sizes and nice and dry

So +- R3 per kg
new supplier of black wattle.

Some of the best I have ever bought.

R2.58 a kg

Bought 20 bags or about half a ton
