ProAsm, the 4.2.1.6 file does not appear to be available?

Its your choice although I think you should as the NodeB's are only getting 4.2 atm which dont have the stable ping fix yet that we will have in 5 so currently your pings must be pretty unstable.
On the otherhand if 5 is working ok for you then leave it [:)]

dbnnet I'll re-upload tnx, I'll do it on ADSL this time - haha [:D]

Can anyone confirm whether 4.2.1.2b has that annoying Power-On reset function?

Thanks Proasm

also do you think i should :

1] Reinstall QoS packet handling
2] Set the hear echo thing so xp can handle pings behind my firewall

thnx

QoS I dont think is used anyway so these a basic client OS choices.
If its not broken, why fix it [:)]

Hello Jas,

Just a comment about the "sleep" mode... seems that with the pppoe(ethernet) option that when you initiate the connection it gets a scan going automatically. You don't need to press any buttons.

ProASM - I do believe that the 4.2.1.2 did fix the ping issue.... Didn't leave it installed long enough to do extensive testing ... back to 4.2.1.8 -&gt; seems to give me the least hassels with my pppoe .... still recon it's a fscked modem... but don't have time to get it swopped now ;-)

Sometimes the obvious things are completely overlooked ... Thanks for that Rodent .. will give it a check out ...

But from what I saw it's rather different... modem &lt;--&gt; pc comms seems fine over the ethernet cable. modem &lt;--&gt; tower comms seems fscked... I know that the modem simply acts as ppp conduit between pc and tower but something seems dicky ...

Got some feedback from tech support at Axcera (the makers of the modem) ... will see what comes of that ..

<br />Is anyone on 253000 Mintek 12 with ethernet cable ?

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

reg. I'm on Mintek 12 using PPPoE (Linux) and the 5.x firmware. I's been more stable in the past week than ever before. I used to get disconnected about 4/5 times a day and have to reset the modem. Recently I've had a solid, loss-free connection.

Now if I could just get the bandwidth I'm paying for....

My experience too - even with low siganls like 8%

I am no programmer, but logic tells me to try the following. [:p]

Have problems with modems that pick up multiple towers and try to connect to the wrong one ........[:(!]

....... my solution ...... delete offending network sectors from registry and force modem to connect to the correct tower. [;)]

2506000
2518000
2530000

Is this workable ?
Where do I find it in the registry ? [?]

Yeah, we approached IPWireless about an option to select your frequency but they reckon its an unusual call which I find friggin hard to believe as I'm sure other countries clients have the same need.
Anyways the cost of a 'special' for us is outrageous, so I hinted at the source code but.... [:(]

Proasm, I spent the whole of yesterday trying different Rwin and MTU settings with not much joy. I refer you to this site, of which there are many http://www.tiscali.co.uk/help/broadband/connectionoptimisationii.html

Obviously the MTU and Rwin and all the other settings play an important part in getting the maximum speed.

If i run software to determine the ideal MTU setting, it comes up with 1500, but that does not work and some sites hang. I find that 1430 gives the best results, but I could be wrong.

I see that the software provided by mywireless sets the rwin to 100000 when logging on.

Now I have a few questions:
1. Are the changes one makes to the registry using Drtcp being over ridden by the mywireless software?
2. Does mysignal software (your software) also override the registry settings.
3. Does anyone at mywireless know what the optimal settings should be for the various operating systems. Or should this question be directed to IPwireless.
4. Or am I wasting my time[:D]

Thanks

Robone.
1. Only the frequencies as far as i know.
2. MySignal does not go anywhere near the Registry except for Win98 to get the Comport number.
3. Cannot answer this one but if it helps, all our routers have an MTU setting of 1500
4. [:D]
