First time car owner

I've been hearing good things about the Rio, so I'll give that more of a look.

I thought the vivo would work out cheapest but too much downside. No one else has even touched on it in this thread.

I did see on other threads that fiesta autos are trouble more often than not
The less said about the Polo Vivo, the better.

I'd recommend a brand new or demo 2020, Toyota Starlet or Suzuki Baleno.
Can get them around R180k to R200k.
Spacious hatchback, very economical and good, reliable engine.
Less fancy than the Fiesta, but will be a lot cheaper over the years.
OP plans on putting a lot of kms on it, so I'd recommend something newer. Also because they are new, factory warranty will be in place.

That is not a bad idea at all, that's a proper family hatch with lots of space.

Fiesta
Kia rio

From your section, but this is really small hatches. Upgrade the fiesta to at least a Focus.

Honda Jazz, recommend it elsewhere too... Reliable, will last forever, great space and decent looks.

Also if I'm honest I'll stay away from Renault, Kia ... Or any multifranchise. What I've realised is that I'll stick to the big boys. Toyota, VW, Honda, ford

The new one is such a letdown, I did not believe it when someoneon this forum mentioned it but after seeing one close up I know what they were talking about, it looks fancy but the quality is no longer the same as the previous models.

Also, go and sit in a fiesta's driver seat before you shop around for one. Years ago I was set on a fiesta too, then sat in the drivers seat and went for something else, its a very cramped small place for the average Joe.
I'll make sure I get a feel of it. It looks good sized when you're seeing it from the outside.

My last car was a Kia Rio Tec. I drove it for four years and had zero issues.

It was very comfortable and had the best specs of any car in that price range.

It is also less likely to get stolen that a fiesta and should have lower insurance premiums.
The Rio has come up a lot in this thread. Definitely going to do more looking and get a feel of how it is on the driver's seat.

Not sure what area you’re in but you can go to Ford Fury Fourways and talk to Willem. Tell him Bruce sent you and he’ll look after you.

Otherwise Williams Hunt Cedar, speak to Andrew. It’s an Opel dealership but they have second hand cars from trade-ins and such. He’s a good guy and a friend of mine, he will look after you too.
I'm in midrand, so I can get to most places. I'll make sure to go there when I start going into dealerships.

I can sacrifice a little on the looks, it's my first car . I'm mostly looking for a good experience.

I've since discovered the Baleno after starting this thread. I was not sure because it's not well known so I wondered about the servicing and it's ability to handle those KMs.
