First time car owner

The new one is such a letdown, I did not believe it when someoneon this forum mentioned it but after seeing one close up I know what they were talking about, it looks fancy but the quality is no longer the same as the previous models.
Which years do you think they were still making decent models? What did you find was particularly a letdown on it?

The Mobilio? That could work, plus it came with that 1.5l engine, if looks weren't a factor that is not a bad car at all.
Looks a bit off but It's not the worst thing I've seen. I'll tradeoff looks for quality a little bit . If it offers a great experience then it's worth a look.

First generation and second were proper, the current one is not bad but they have cut corners here and there, mostly on the interior, the carpet is the cheapest thing you can lay your eyes on, it's not even a carpet but a some synthetic thing that resembles those speaker cloths. The rubber trim pieces around the windows also has the tendency to come off or the glue comes undone.

Plus the entry level with the 1.2l engine just does not work. Overall it's not too bad, the reliability is still Hondas tried and tested but you if you knew the previous models you can see where the cost cutting happened.

Personally would go for the Rio as it's more interesting than the others, if only marginally.

Don't take too long to make up your mind. People will suggest everything that's NOT on your list, and your opinion will drift, and before you know it you're test driving M3s.

Fortunately no one has suggested anything outrageous so far, the only outliers are the Toyota Quest and the Honda Mobilio.

I'll look out for that. I'm open to a couple of reasonable entries. It's been informative so far.

Are they too expensive for my price range and needs? Or is it other factors?

The Quest and the Mobilio? No, they are well within your budget, I am saying they are outliers because your preference seems to be hatchbacks, I wouldn't recommend a Mobilio but i am fully behind the Quest.

I wouldn't go for the Quest. You're asking to have it stolen / hijacked. You're also possibly a target for the taxi / anti-e-hailing thugs.

I've been seeing that a lot regarding the VW and Toyota cars. Hard to say if they're specifically targeted or there being more on the road gives that view.

It's a bit of a circular issue. There are a ton of them on the road which means if yours dies, just steal one and use the engine and parts. And because there are a ton of them o the road, a lot of engines and parts are needed.. So steal one, and use the engine and parts. But there are a lot requiring parts, so steal more to provide the parts that are needed. But now your car is missing an engine...so steal one, and use the engine...

More on the road = more parts in demand = more reason for them to get stolen and broken up

Please stay away from the small cars like the Honda Brio, you said you had a family.

Check this out...
