Firstshop.co.za legit?

Follow up on my previous post, it worked by calling them out on their BS excuse of my item being only delivered in January to their warehouse, they have now delivered my package and I can have peace of mind.

Thank you, Firstshop.co.za! Glad you did the right thing. Will change my review.

Anyone purchase from firstshop recently? Still a good option?

I’m waiting for an order, should arrive today or tomorrow. They’re fine if you don’t mind waiting, I also had to email them to actually get the tracking info.

I definitely would only use them when they have something that is much cheaper than the alternatives.

Thanks, appreciate the response. It is for a small R1000 purchase and cheapest I could find. Will give it a go!

Yes they are legit and prices are good. Their offices are in waterfall office park

What is the delivery costs for major cities? Cannot find anything on the website...
and do they offer any free delivery over a certain value?

Put something in your cart and checkout to find out. A few months ago I was charged R90 for an item of R539. Might still be the same. Do not know at what stage free shipping is available.

Ordered a Ubiquiti ER-X from them last week on Monday, was delivered on Friday. Opened the box and found that the power supply that should be included was missing. Mailed them at 15:03 on Friday afternoon and had a response from their RMA department by 15:55 Friday afternoon saying they would follow up with the warehouse.

Monday got a call offering huge apologies, confirmed delivery address, and saying would courier ASAP. Tuesday got a mail saying they where just waiting for the stock to arrive and then would courier.

It's Wednesday now so will just see how long it takes.

In my book, that seems pretty solid service. Remains to be seen if I change my tune.

I've ordered a few things from them in the past, never had any issues but also never had to return anything.

They're definitely not very fast, but sometimes they'll have a good deal on something and you don't mind waiting an extra day or two for.

Ja, my recent ER-X was about R200 cheaper than the next best which was Scoop, In my view these kind of products are almost a commodity so there shouldn't be more that a few percent difference in pricing.

I bought a motherboard from them . I installed it but battled to install windows had intermittently errors. So I tried Ubuntu.. Same thing . So I returned it . They said the pins where bent . No warranty. Very strange. Now it will not even boot. So it booted when I had it. Then after it was sent to them and returned. It No longer boots .

Very strange... !!! Warranty void . By whom?

Motherboards are a pain with returns when bent pins are involved, regardless who the retailer is.

Basically no places will help you if the pins are bent.

So who bent the pins ??? Since the MB was booting up when I sent it in and will not boot with how firstshop now present the pins ???? Who bent them ???

Who really wants to document every stage of unboxing to have on record to deal with shady operators ?
Seems like to easy of a method to avoid addressing warranty issues.
This is a warning to other hapless customers of Firstshop - Be very wary !!! Very wary !!! Record the state of the MB if you have to return it to Firstshop so they cannot pull the same dirty move on others.

Felt the same after my harddrive fiasco with them.
"The harddrive was opened - warranty void".

Opened by whom?
Why the hell would anyone order a brand new drive, open the screws, then call them saying "listen it's not working."

100% convinced they were just looking to avoid a legit claim on a brand new drive.

Doesn't make sense. Warranty claims don't cost anything.

Bent pins are tricky, it's very easy for a customer to do it by accident and without even noticing and then lay blame on the retailer (I'm NOT saying that's what happened here, I'm saying it happens).

The hard drive though? I'd ask for escalation.

Very strange - So motherboard boots and runs and installs windows 10 and Ununtu but has intermittent errors. Sent for a return - Then mother after been at First Shop does not boot at all ?
So boots - then returned - then after return does not boot ? Tricky - more like a good trick !
How do pins bend like this in arb location from removing a cpu ? Leading and trailing edges - Sure but centre of matrix ? Come on now !!!
