Fishtank Mod

Good luck. :) I got the tank for R119+R43 for the lid(what a rip :/ )I bought a submersible pump which was R169 which pumps like hell lol, better flow of oil, better cooling. I also got coned with a water heater which supposedly could go to 16'c which it doesn't but that doesn't matter. All in all it cost R409.

Then on Monday I went to buy the stones, the stone skull, and a fake plant, that came to R210. 8Kg's of stones mind you >_> to help save volume as the oil is so expensive.

So yeah. ;)

Cool man. :)

;). Only question I'm wondering is what am I going to do with it? I actually have no use for it.

Hehe, neither would I. Still a cool project though. Just hope that that stuff really is the same as mineral oil otherwise you are gonna have a whole lot of horse laxative and nothing to do with it :D

Lolz. I basically triple checked. It's actually the exact same stuff as what the guy used in the Video. :P

Cool, well be sure to post a vid of the finished product :)

If no one buys my P3 soon, I think I will be doing the same thing.

Will do. ;) Should have it up by Monday-Wednesday, latest. I've still got to figure out where I'm going to put the DVD ROM as it doesn't fit in the top of the lid.

The quiet noise free PC experience will be all wort it. Imagine the peace and quiet with the low level background light display. Its worth it. Place some floating plastic fish (from flee market) and those coloured balls kids place in water also available from the flea market (or florists) and it will be cool. Use it as an good looking Home theater PC. I will even consider the project.

Just make sure of the flash point of the mineral oil in case a problem develops.

Anyway it would be a nice visitors talking point.

Cool experiment for a weekend. Wanna try it when I have moola for parts to waste.

How long will the components last though? Surely not as long as they would with air?

Well the ones on that site have lasted years with the main problems being the stickers coming off some of them and the fact that oil seeps out down the cables to the mouse and other peripherals...

They had solutions for it on the site as well :)

Right now I would rather sell the P3 that I am planning to submerge. Difficult to justify shelling out around a grand for a fishtank PC that I won't have much use for :o
