Five Eskom units fail - Load-shedding could be imminent

Yup... seeing the same here

Same 49.08-50.40 Hz..

Voltage varies alot lowest 203 highest 235 V last week it was hovering around 240 V..

Are you living in an area with high illegal connections
who knows, but the grid stayed working for many years perfectly well through all the illegal connections,
and cable theft

its just recently that people discovered a way to kill sa quite nicely and get away cleanly.
its almost like destroying highway overpasses, or poisoning water supply.

I have a multimeter that measures frequency and its currently sitting at 49.93Hz which is fine.

Well Eskom told me that frequency decreasing beyond a certain point is an imminent warning sign...
if its accurate, then I'm sure some smart alec, will invent Load shedding alarms,
if the Frequency dips below a certain level, a SMS/Push/Alarm sounds to wan you before Load shedding strikes.

but again, IF its accurate, and we go into Stage 1/2/3/4/100

Modern geyser relays (ripple receivers) and other devices drop/disconnect the load automatically at 49.7Hz or less.

It is not accurate to use the frequency as a metric, in absolute terms. It is however, good enough to look at the inverter and if you keep seeing low frequency, then you can reasonably assume they'll tweet on Twitter again
