Five Eskom units fail — Load-shedding could be imminent

Power utility Eskom has warned it might have to implement load-shedding at very short notice after five generation units failed on Tuesday.

“While no load-shedding is currently being implemented, Eskom would like to request the public’s assistance in reducing the usage of electricity as the power system is severely constrained,” Eskom said.

“Five generation units at various power stations have failed throughout the day — three over the past two hours.”

What is your range?
49.9 to 50.3 over a 60 second period here, but voltage is low. It keep kicking on and off as well, so I suspect we're having a few brownouts as well.

Input voltage is also low, I didn't see a brownout while watching it and it's quite a distance from me so by the time I hear it, it's long done, but while watching the frequency I saw the input voltage stable at just below 220v.

Below 220 isn't that low, I've only seen brownouts at 210 or lower.

What ever, we are already doing load shedding (and helping the country). A substation in our area just burned down. Probably when it comes back on we will get hit with our schedule.

I don't know how the **** government and SARS think we must run our business with this kak.

Jesus Christ, just shut it all down and get it over with.

This slow bleed into nothing is far more stressful than the up and down availability.

Eskom claiming random breakdowns like this is the biggest load of bs. This is either sabotage or deliberately blaming a reduction of diesel usage on breakdown of stations.

Right now I am just waiting for the price increase demand articles to show up and shortly after they are yet again approved for hiked pricing the load shedding and breakdowns will again magically end.

I am surprised eskom employees haven't gone on strike yet. I guess they get paid their inflated salaries on time every month
