Five Eskom units fail - Load-shedding could be imminent

I monitor a couple of UPS's around CT and they all went onto battery for a second so something was going on..

if its accurate, then I'm sure some smart alec, will invent Load shedding alarms,
if the Frequency dips below a certain level, a SMS/Push/Alarm sounds to wan you before Load shedding strikes.

but again, IF its accurate, and we go into Stage 1/2/3/4/100

Also makes sense if you have home assistant or similar hooked up to your inverter to have a workflow change the battery discharge levels when the frequency is being dodgy.

Nope the OCTGs are not included in the Available capacity there, I used to think that, until Sikonathi corrected us.

Why were we burning 14 then when "available" was 2GW more than "demand"?

Well it would be included if it was used, I would need to look at the supply on Eskom data portal tomorrow if it's updated

Seems an expensive and roundabout way to do it. Just run them direct when you would have used the water or is there a start up delay longer than water?
